Mayweather took all the luster away from Canelo. It was a big mistake to chase the pay check. They should have protected his "0". An undefeated fighter is going to get fans paying for his fights far more than one who's already been beat. Especially if they have any sort of reputation and media presence. If Wilder was 30 wins with 30ko's but 1 loss, would he still seem as intriguing knowing that someone was able to topple him? It's the "0" that keep haters watching Mayweather. Now that Canelo has his 0, his haters who wanted to see him lose will not care to pay to watch him fight, as they already got vindication watching Money May spank him for 12 roundsComment

2013 was a mixed year for former champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs). He started the year with a twelve round decision victory over Austin Trout to unify the WBC/WBA 154-pound titles before a crowd of 40,000 fans at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. He came back in September to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the most financially successful fight in boxing history. The pound-for-pound king was too much for the 23-year-old boxer, and easily won a twelve round decision.

Canelo got a chance to make 8 figures and he took it. Completely ridiculous to ask "why" he took the fight with a straight face.
Mark my words he is going to have much harder fights in his career than Floyd. He lost but he wasn't dragged down into the trenches either. He has some tough names that he won't be able to avoid crossing paths with before too long. Canelo's career is going to be very entertaining to watch as it continues to unfold.Comment
