If boxing becomes like the UFC, it would be a step in the right direction. Eliminate the competition and sign the fighters that were left without a contract because of the war.
Even in MMA whilst UFC has established itself as the dominant force in the western hemisphere it has never been in overarching control of the sport or had the ability to make all the best fights. Nether Emilianenko brother ever fought on UFC for instance and even now there's other promoters such as Bellator in the US, but most especially One FC which is rapidly taking over the huge Far Eastern scene.

I do agree that there should be a single governing body - something a bit like AIBA in the amateur sport, with the ability to decide rankings and dictate match-ups, but having a single promotions company puts the fighters themselves in a very vulnerable position. The UFC for instance is blighted by low wages and what are frequently called 'slave contracts'.

COTTO is the man,he fought everybody at their best like very few can say the same thing about their carreer;he has balls and courage like few so he doesn't understand that GBP and TOP RANK can't work together or JUNIOR has to fight BRADLEY,PACQUIAO and PROVODNIKOV instead of KHAN and MAIDANA at 147. GBP has to protect JUNIOR because with a loss they know JUNIOR's PPV will fall in the toilette!!! COTTO IS A REAL MAN,HOW CAN A BOXING FAN DON'T LOVE HIM???

If more boxers would take the lead of Floyd Jr. and Cotto, and become free agents, the cold war wouldn't end, but the end would much nearer. The only thing standing in the way of Floyd Jr. and Manny (at this point) is Arum. Don't take my word for it, PLEASE Google Dan Rafael's article "Blame Bob Arum for No Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Fight."

showtime now only does business with golden boy if im not mistaken and hbo works with all the other promoters with the biggest company being top rank.

however, i think top ranks biggest fighters will not be there in 2015.

          marquez is gonna retire soon.

pacquaio is gonna retire soon and his contract with top rank ends late 2014.

bradley is gonna leave top rank after fighting pacquaio in order to secure big fights.

top rank will become a smaller company. they will no longer have the marquee names to subsidise having other fighters on their shows to build their other fighters up.

I have thought this, couple of years maximum from now Top Rank won't be looking so good. This cold war can't last forever and I don't think it will, one day it will change for the better.

Mayweather and Mosley was not at their best when Cotto fought them.

I'm kinda pissed that Cotto fought Floyd @ 154, but he never sought a rematch with Pac @ 154. If he did call out Pac, I didn't hear about it. I hear 154 boxers calling out Floyd all the time, but why not call out Pacquiao? Isn't Pac just as big of a draw? Anyway, I expect Cotto to beat Martinez, but beware of GGG.

Cotto and Floyd?? Nope just Cotto. Floyd is aligned with golden boy.

Actually Pacman wanted the fight at 147 and refused to go any higher than 148.
