People think UFC is so great but its a closed shop, how does it compare with a world governed real sport like football (soccer) or rugby? How does a great MMA fighter become a recognised world champion? He can't, there is no such thing, but he can join the UFC's closed shop and fight cherry picked opponents and win their 'undisputed' championship.

EXACTLYYYY!!! but its wishful thinking as the industry can not just be re-structured overnite. In MMA fiters work for promoters so its a boot up the rear end if you dont fite a certain guy by the promoter and boxing is vice versa. Thats why someone like Curtis Stevens made 300 k vs Golovkin and that can be what a title holder or star may make for a title defense in MMA.

Also best fiting best is hard in boxing cuz in boxing youre continuously taking brain damage where as in MMA you get hit all over the place and fites end sooner and quicker. Promoters, managers and trainers are wary of that and dont want their kids to get smacked up and become zombies but hey you signed up for it rite.

Because I don't want people to refer to boxing as GBP or TR. MMA is bigger than UFC, yet UFC is what the majority knows it as; it has created an environment where all fighters now need to go through one channel in order to gain relevance, it has also resulted in UFC being USA centred.

It would be best if there were multiple promotional companies, but the sanctioning bodies had a more active and honest role in the creation of fights; in other words force the promotional companies to do business with one another.

Even before the so called cold war the one biggest thing that I feel was hurting boxing has been the networks continuously scheduling fights on the same nights or going head to head so to speak. Seems to me that it would be a win win for the fighters, the fans abd tge networks to avoid going head to head whenever possible.
