he too small & his punching power comes into question. he is at least a C+as he has beaten most of the journeymen in front of him until this setback. I doubt boytsov will ever be in a mandatory position again. he was not in the best of shape against leapai but it's not like leapai did anything special. he just came straight at him winging homerun shots that he telegraphed so I don't know why he could hit denis so cleanly. leapai has no jab & throws all his punches from way out. he should be easy to counter especially when he's throwing those big rights from left field. I'm not sure he can get past any of the gatekeepers like kevin Johnson. get him in there with david price since both are on the rebuilding phase of their careers...

he is Russian so I suspect that is the region he will look to fight in to build his ranking quicker. minto owns the WBO oriental title & leapai will have to vacate his Asian\pacific belt once he's gets his tite shot. boytsov\minto makes perfect sense to me. I do know minto plans to fly to the Asian\pacific region to defend that belt which is surprising considering most americans vacate that belt unless they plan to visit the region to defend against a ranked opponent. the Asian\pacific region is the easiest to move up in. in recent years tua, barrett, Cameron, welliver & now leapai have all broken the top 10-15 winning regional belts in that area...

TBH I would doubt Boytsov now recovers his early momentum...

But I ain't quite willing to write him off completely. The promotional struggles with Universum took a heavy toll, and he was fighting Leapai just a coupla months after starting work with a new team. It's quite obvious in his last few fights he's been outta shape, and I think it's just possible that with hard work and dedication he could get back into contention.

He's still young enough, the question is really whether he possesses the mental fortitude, and can regain the hunger for the sport.
