I don't see much boxing skills in Thurman.

Did you watch his fight vs Soto-Karass?

Some undeserved like his injuries leading up to the Fury fight that never took place.

I think we can all agree that when David Haye was on his game, which in fairness, we didn't see much of late in his heavyweight career, he was a pretty entertaining and devastating fighter. We saw this in his fights against Chisora, against Enzo Mac, Mormeck and to some extent Monte Barrett.

Let's put the criticism to the side for a moment. Because when he was on form, he was quick, moved from side to side and threw punches with bad intentions from both hands.

When I watched Keith Thurman against Jesus Soto-Karass I noticed the similarity between that performance and Haye's performance vs Chisora. For Thurman, I think he moved a lot more than he usually does, he looked to be concentrating throughout the whole fight and used his skills a lot more than he did previously, against Chaves for once.

Other than that, they share the same hairstyle.

Did anyone else notice this similarity?
yes. I'm glad i haven't been the only who noticed it.

He really impressed me vs Soto-Karass. I just think there's a huge gulp in class between Soto-karass and some of the established WWs. One Time needs to take his time and fight someone established in the top 10-15 before he starts calling out the likes of Maidana.
Do you rate Diego Chaves? I think he showed a lot in that fight and was as good a performance as the Soto Karass fight.

Not really. He hasn't beaten anyone of note and has fought mostly at home. Not saying he can't be good, and he put up a good showing vs Thurman, but until I see him beat someone of note, then I'm not sold on him.

However, if you go back and listen to David Haye before he was a major PPV star in the UK, he was very friendly, laid-back and likable. He just took the self promotion a bit too far.

If/when Thurman reaches that level of exposure, you never know what could happen to his personality as well. But he seems like a cool guy for sure.

I do, I think he'd knock Karass out. Zaveck is a better fighter than given credit for too, it's just that when Western audiences haven't been exposed to certain fighters they take the attitude he can't be much good instead of trusting what they see.

Is knocking soto-karass a great feat? He's got power for sure. But until he wins at something close to world level I won't rate him.

Yeah, Thurman definitely reminds me of David Haye. Their style is so similar. I'm a fan of both. A fight between Thurman and Maidana would be epic.
