Bad Stats
MMA lives and breathes by ppv money. Boxing doesn't. Proof below.
UFC had 12 PPV's last year which is low for them as in 2012 they did 14 and 2011 they did 16.
Boxing does like 3 maybe 4 annually. So on a bad year (2013) UFC does 4 times as many ppv's. A good year its 5 times more.
Based on those facts, you can't cherry pick what numbers to use. Academics call it Bad Stats.
What should be used are ALL THE NUMBERS and average them. Therefore there is zero chance of bias and unbalance.
UFC in 2013 did 12 PPV's.
Total PPV buys: 5,050,000.
Thats an average of 420,833 buys.

Boxing in 2013 did 3 PPV's.
Total PPV buys: 3,545,000.
Thats an average of 1,181,666* buys.
Source: OP. I did not fact check.
*Pacqiuao fight did much lower than expected numbers. Close to 2/3's less than his average.
OP stats say (minus the Rios fight) Pacquiao fought 7 times since 2009, totaling 7,450,000 PPV buys. That is an average of 1,064,285 PPV buys. If Pacquiao would have done his average numbers, the 2013 PPV buy average for boxing would have been 1,378,095. That is exactly 3.27 times more than UFC numbers for the same year.
FACT: Boxing does an average of 3 times the average PPV buys UFC does.
ERROR: I forgot to add the estimated PPV buys for Silva vs Weidman 2 which is 550k.
This alters the UFC total PPV's to 13 instead of 12 and changes the average from 420,833 to 430,769. Not a big difference imho.Last edited by Joe Grizzley; 01-01-2014, 03:01 PM.

Haye v Klitschko was PPV, as were Froch v Kessler and Groves. Also, I think all boxing is PPV in Australia.
Even if you keep it US, you left out Bradley v Marquez which did 350,000.

lol i didn't think you guys would take an obvious troll this seriously. I actually enjoy boxing and prefer their PPV/event model to the UFC's. Not sure how many people here actually follow MMA consistently either but they're switching their model starting this saturday with some overseas card that you have to pay a $10 monthly fee to see a bunch of foreign cards, watering down the sport even more. Hoping they get this **** sorted cause it's getting expensive being an MMA fan.

4 million? I'll have whatever you're smoking
UFC is so poorly produced, I was laughing while watching. Everyone screaming. It looks like WWE to be honest.
