Short to Mid-range uppercut to the solar plexus

Mid-range uppercut the solar plexus from the orthodox stance. I see a fair few southpaws loving this shot.

Aware it will open you up to a counter left hook (O vs O) but why do you never see this shot? Or is this solely the reason? Not talking from the outside.

Legitimate question as its a ****ing devastating shot.

In fact why don't fighters in general dig to the solar plexus these days? Seems a forgotten art.

    Seriously don't get it.

This is a legitimate question and I am quite aware it sounds like a newbie question but I can't get my head around it. Is it just a forgotten/overlooked shot that is rarely taught? Not just the uppercut but a straight mid-long. Digging to the solar plexus in general. Think the only fighter today who uses this I have seen is Kovalev.

I watch old school fighters I'd seen them utilise it in the clinch, use it just before they tied up. These days I don't see it...

Sorry if this makes little sense, had a few

Upercuts from mid range can open you up to monster counters. theyre hard to set up and easy to defend.

I mean to the body from in close-mid, not the outside...

Or even a timed straight right through the guard.

          Does this make sense?

I wouldn't advice anyone to throw an uppercut from the outside.

From an ex boxer and trainer not a dumb azz troll as some are on this site if you throw an uppercut you must have your elbow against your rib so that the uppercut goes right up the middle also Turning the wrist. The problem is today you have many who don't know how to teach proper stance or punches they wing uppercuts with their elbow away from the ribs and this tends to give you an upper cut coming at a 60 degree angle rather than a 90 degree up the middle. If we were talking live and in person I would be able to demonstrate

You would be throwing a punch that leaves you wide open while in range, to do an uppercut to the body you have to drop your hand super low, if you are coming out of a normal guard because you would be in range it takes a long time to drop the hand then punch while all someone has to do is throw a left hook to your wide open face.

It is something you could mix in as a surprise but it not something that you should mix into a pattern because someone would pick up on that and take advantage.

Bute is very good at this, he's sneaky and surprising with them, and usually smothers right after to not get countered
