If Cotto beats Martinez does Mayweather...

If Cotto beats Martinez, does Mayweather go up to 160 to rematch him and try to win the Middleweight strap? He could very well beat Cotto at that weight in a legacy defining win.

    Discuss.

I would pay to see it, especially if Miguel Cotto looks like he did against Delvin Rodriguez. Cotto has options for him because even if he loses, he can go back to the 154lbs and challenge for a belt there.

LOL, thats why I said if and its a big if but we'll have to wait and see. Maybe SM's knee blows out in round 9? I favour SM in this bout but will his body hold out for one last fight?

Yep, if Cotto does the unthinkable and manages to cause an upset, I can definitely see Floyd trying to get a rematch with him for the middleweight title. It's almost certain that Martinez will win and Floyd will avoid him like he's been doing for years though.

Lol that would be such a cheap way to win a MW title. If by some way Cotto beats Martinez it's only because Martinez is old or gets injured. Cotto wouldn't have a size advantage over Floyd at any weight, just a thicker layer of fat around his mid section.

Just for the sake of the idea would Floyd? Yes of course he would.

Wouldn't be surprised if GB tried to put Canelo's name as an opponent first though.

With the lack of big name options, it's possible that Mayweather fights the winner of Cotto-Martinez some time in early to late 2015. Cotto-Martinez happens in June 2014, so if Floyd will fight one of them, it would likely be May 2015.

I dont see it happening. 160 is too big. Plus if he did everybody would discredit the title. Call Cotto a blow up MW. Same thing everybody did when they fought at 154.

Of course Mayweather would... it would be an older, slower version of a big name that he already beat. Not much risk involved and a big pay day speaks Money May's language.
