Even forgot that he wanted to fight for Paulie belt like 18 months ago, well Maidana has it now and a fight between thurman and Maidana would be definitely a good match up for both.

Maidana already turned down a Thurman fight, I doubt MM will be lining that high-risk, low-reward fight up after the biggest win of his career.

Thurman is impressive, not quite elite level but a solid B+, he has a lot to prove against quality opponents but here is what my WW rankings would look like:

        ***** Boy Floyd
        Bradley
        Pacman

        Maidana
        Porter
        Thurman
        Alexander
        Hulk
        Brook
        Malignaggi

Theres a huge gap between the top 3 and everyone else, except for Manny/JMM which is an oddity, he just happens to be Pacs boogeyman.

Other than that, the JMM that got schooled by Bradley loses to almost every top 10 welter, mark my words.

Brook and Thurman in my eyes have the most potential but need the match ups to show how good they can be.

Thurman is ranked number 1 at the weight for Maidana belt. Am sure when the mandatory status comes then no one can avoid him.

The idea of Maidana vs Danny Garcia looms, Thurman can fight Malignaggi and I think he'd win more impressive than Broner did against Paulie.

I started believing in him after beating Diego Chavez in a pretty brutal fight. He adapted and won by KO. I'd still like to see how he does against elite fighters, but so far so good. No, I'm not going Broner on him saying he's the GOAT, you have to beat elite fighters with authority to get there.
