Yep, he did let the fans choose his opponent. The fans got him that ass whipping but the fight looked closer when I rewatched it in the morning and wasn't all amped like the night before.

Stevenson don't want it .. He basically said he wants to fight everybody but kovalev in his post fight interveiw .. If anything he wants to cash out a little before they fight .

Yea, I think he was.

Also, mayweather said broner chose maidana and that AB was wrong in not letting his team pick his opponent. I gotta disagree with mayweather because Richard Schaefer was pushing for the maidana-broner fight as soon as broner beat paulie in the post-fight press conference.

Regarding the forum topic, I think kovalev wins. And the odds are gonna be super close when it happens so I'm betting on kovalev.

People hate on Mayweather, but almost EVERY fighter who hits it big ends up being "smart" about how to pace their careers. Promoters don't want new stars taking on every risky challenge known to man, back to back. We even see it with Maidana. He just got a big win, but don't expect him to pick Lucas M., Bradley or Danny Garcia over Mayweather or Pacman. They bring the money and most reward for the risk. Same with Stevenson. He wants the money, more titles, some decent wins under his belt. I suspect the same for Kovalev if he gets that big victory over someone like Stevenson. His team will be looking for the big payday vs just taking a big risk to appease people.

Mayweather says it best. "Boxing is a business."

You're missing the point. Stevenson will fight Kovalev if he gets paid, he has stated that, Floyd avoids certain guys regardless of the money on the table. The guy turned down the biggest money fight in boxing history.

Kovalevs actually got a bit of a problem now tho - the top prospects (such as Fonfara) are gonna go for Stevenson, he brings better money and at very least has shown enough vulnerability that there appears at least the prospect of victory.

Pascal has as good as said he ain't interested in Kovalev, Dawson ain't even on the table, Bute hasn't said anything, but realistically the Bute / Pascal winner is gonna get Stevenson at some point, and I doubt the loser wants Sergei anytime soon.

I've just got a kinda feeling that Kovalev is gonna end up fighting fringe contenders through 2014, whilst all the decent fights go to Stevenson.

I can understand GYMs rationale, but it doesn't make it any better as a boxing fan.

Kovalev could say the same exact thing , but he doesn't ...This what I respect.. Money is one thing ,proving to urself who's the best is another.. I'm sure hbo would give him a lot more money then they did for Bellow .. I see ur point , I want fighters to get what they deserve but what about when they get a great check to go beat some nobody up.
