Comments Thread For: BoxingScene's British Boxing 2013 Year-End Awards

It’s that time of year again, a time to reflect on the days that have passed by, the people who have passed away, and the fights and events that lit up the boxing landscape during 2013. There have been ups-and-downs aplenty, and a few world titles have left these shores, but there is hope for the long-term future of the domestic game as the likes of Nathan Cleverly Tony Bellew, Amir Khan and Kell Brook will no doubt hope to regain momentum in 2014, so there are still stories aplenty to write. In the meantime, here’s the best of the year gone by. [Click Here To Read More]

Robbery of the year is easily Maciel vs. Rose. Rose got the biggest gift decision of his life.

      "Robbery of the year:
… There is no such thing as robberies, only different perspectives and officiating incompetence. (...)"

The robbery of the year, by far, was the "draw" (SD) for Ricky Burns vs Raymundo Beltran...

For a small country, UK punches way above its weight in world class boxing, especially in the premier division, the heavyweights.

There were 4 fights this year between top UK and US heavyweights. The British guys won 2 of them.

Not bad going when you compare the population size of the 2 countries: 60 million in the UK vs over 300 million in the US.

Every country has it's own domestic scene and the British scene is as entertaining as any.
Tune in most Saturdays and you will see decent / fun fights.

Hahaha not bad if you sc**** the USA hw boxers from the bottom of the barrell. That's like saying a German boxer beat peter mcneeley, so German boxers are better than USA boxers.

Outside of the US, I don't think there is another country with a scene as strong as ours. Just wish we had more promoters and no Sky monopoly.

From the outside looking in, this seemed like a bad year for British boxing. Its almost been elevated to joke status. You had price who the brits thought was there savior get knocked the **** out by tony thompson, twice. you had cleverlys pathetic title reign finally come to screeching halt, kell brook another british hopeful dropping out and weaseling out of 2 title fights, david haye showing what a **** he really is. chisoras a ****, khan is the laughing stock of boxing, and froch groves was a ****stain on boxing and so has ricky burns recent run plus the fact that he ducked broner. im sure theres more that im forgetting
