Morales was down 4 times, technically

Disclaimer: This is not a hate thread.

According to international boxing rules, when a fighter holds on to the ropes to avoid a knockdown, he should still be given an eight-count and a knockdown score for his opponent.

Morales' case, when he held onto the ropes in the second and sixth round, he should have been counted.

Just read this one in an article and realized morales got away from 2 supposed kd's. if it went to the scorecards, this would have been huge...

a standing 8 count does not require a fighter to be down, if he is obviously battered by his opponent and does not fight back, he can be given that... in morales's case, he almost went down but held on to the ropes to avoid it... hbo does not make the rules IMHO...

I liked it cuz ive never seen Morales get rocked soo hard by a single punch...Pacquiao's left cross/straight has to be one of the most powerful punches out there p4p especially considering it damaged morales' solid ass chin...

Yeah but the rule was not in affect in that fight, along with most big fights. If it was, dont you think it would have been counted?

you're not getting my point bro... the supposed kd does not fall into the category of a standing 8 count... morales was hit with a punch, held on to the ropes and stood up... under international rules, which was in effect for the fight, it should have been scored a kd for pac...

There's no doubt this should have been a knock down. He was stunned, and the rope is the only thing that stopped him from going down.
