I have a lot of friends who watch boxing but not like me, know a lot of fighters but not Adonis Stevenson or Sergey Kovalev but know Provo, Alvarado and well certainly Rios now. They want Mayweather vs. Maidana and they know who Khan is but mention that and go "Hell no! He's weak, Garcia destroyed him."

Maidana is fresh because of the Broner victory and honestly Matthysse is a fresh face from the Garcia loss and has a following. Mayweather vs. Khan can happen but Khan needs to rebuild the resume.
