Seems like he would develop some more power with age, because he doesn't have a lot of it yet, but either does Tyson, so who knows.

To get a hw championship this kid will have to beat Wladimir Klitschko or whoever is baby sitting Vitali's belt and if that happens to be Arreola, Stiverne or Wilder then there is no way I can see him winning a legit championship in the next year or so. Maybe he can win a interim title. But that's nothing to brag about these days.Comment

It's hard to say on the British scene yet alone internationally. Joshua has his Olympic credentials but Hughie has his youth World Champs - both are guys to keep an eye on, but for my money both have better long term potential than Tyson Fury (and not just cos of the few years difference in age).Comment

What happened to Hughie this year was interesting imo. Cannot understand why some would say he seems ordinary or 'plodding' as someone said.
He has one of the best jabs in the heavyweight division already - which is not hard admittedly, as most of the fighters abandon it completely. It's a stinging left jab that comes from his waisteline which makes it a lot harder to see for his opponents.
Back on topic, he started out with a **** this year. He has that little bit of spite behind his blows that makes me think he could be a big player on the heavyweight scene. What most people don't know is that if you take a stoppage as a journeyman, or any other fighter, you are not allowed to fight in the UK for a lengthier period of time which is not very good for the journeymen who live off fighting each weekend.
This means some of the bouts he's been involved with, he has not been able to stop them because it's been agreed before hand.
Nevertheless, I think he's a fantastic talent, really easy on the eye. Moves well for a 6'6 guy. Better schooled than Joshua, but Joshua is a force of nature - so it's hard for me to decide who's the bigger talent at this moment in time.Last edited by LacedUp; 12-30-2013, 05:33 PM.Comment

I know he's only 3 fights deep but Anthony Joshua is an absolute problem. Big 6'6" athletic with fast and accurate hands and punches with murderous intent. And he can box as well, his Olympic Gold medal is evidence of that. Tyson Fury even admitted that AJ beat him up in sparring for 3 rounds straight when he was an AMATEUR before he even went to the Olympics. Said he hit him with an uppercut that would have knocked out David Price for a month or something like that bahahaa. Was really praising him. And again that is TYSON FURY who said that, a man of few compliments. Joshua would beat Hughie but the fight is still years premature. They fought the same journeyman Hrvoje Kisicek just months apart. Hughie first won by 6th round decesion, Joshua TKO'd him in 2 rounds. We'll see how both their careers progress over the next few years though.
Dare I say though, Joshua is the future of the Heavyweight division. If he fought a Klitchko TODAY he would give them problems and has a legitimate chance to beat them both at this early stage in his career from what i've seen. The only thing we don't know is if he can actually take a punch or not. That will likely be the ex factor in his career. If he has a solid chin he is going to be very hard to stop, but if his chin is glass, his skills will only get him so far. But he fights like a calm seasoned calculated pro thus far through his first 3 bouts. We "should" hear big things about this guy in years to come.Comment
