They're no going to "go broke". They are a multi-billion dollar corp and subsidiaries of other, bigger multi-billion dollar corps. I was merely speculating as to why Showtime got into the PROMOTIONAL squabble between Golden Balls, Mayweather and Top Rank. My suggestion was merely that -a suggestion, but I DO have some experience of BIG business and I can see that if Mayweather refused this fight, Showtime would be "treading water" whilst another opponent might be sought. They MUST have the option of refusing an opponent, that's elementary. So why not the option of picking one??

We don't know anything, really, about the deal between them and Mayweather. But I'd bet a dollar to a penny, that they have an "out", like the fact that their deal is a "fight by fight" deal. This was NOT advertised, beyond the mere mention. And I can understand why. The whole business, ESPECIALLY SHOW BUSINESS and ENTERTAINMENT is the glitter rather than the substance... THAT'S what sells.

So I can see it as merely a protective business announcement. I could be wrong....or right..I don't care which.

Well, they loss 12m+ with Floyd-Guerrero doing between 800k-900k. So common sense says. They're gonna need to do a million+ to break even. And somewhere north of that to turn a profit. So whatever number you wanna plug in, do so. Either way, Pac's the only opponent that guarantees them a profit. So it makes no sense for the Showtime president to assist Floyd in ducking him. And anybody that thinks he wuld is a ****in' idiot.

They're losing money with this Floyd contract. And its fairly obvious that Floyd isn't gonna do moster numbers without the right dance partner. I could be wrong. But I don't think Showtime got in bed with Floyd for the hell of it. So it makes no sense for them to publically assist Floyd in costing them money.

I'd love to hear the background on how they lost $12m on that fight.

Floyd probably has to do 1.5m ppv buys for Showtime to turn a profit. Right now, Pac is probably the only guy that can bring that number. So as the president of Showtime, why further assist Floyd in ducking Pac. Which in the article he would be doing. If its gonna cost the company even more money?

When the Floyd haters were gloating on here about Floyd-Guerrero tanking, someone posted an article about the loss they took.

Maidana will tank. The only fight out there right now that turns Showtime a profit is Floyd-Pac. So why in the name of common sense would the president of Showtime protect Floyd, which is gonna cost his company millions. If you tthink these folks just love Floyd so much they wanna just hand him phat checks for the hell of it. You're the ****in' moron b!tch.

Nothing concrete, but I think pac's intention on going to floyd's camp this coming january was to arrange an agreement if floyd would really fight him if he leaves top rank or somehow get temporary independence. Because if it turned out; this is just one of the excuses of floyd, --one from the other as we've witnessed so far over the years, then, pac had not just wasted his precious time(remember this man isn't only a boxer but a congressman and a philanthropist; someone who actually do meaningful activities in his life not wasting it like most of us.) but also would have lost his loyalty to other camp as well. This is terrible pain for a person who believes in honor and loyalty, pain that, coward people would not really understand.
