Yeah I saw that and it read like a bunch of BS to me. The very notion that doing 800k-1m would somehow mean a loss for the network sounds fairly dumb. $12m? Ludicrous. Especially since neither the writer nor anyone here has any real insight on Showtime's PPV model.

It's not Showtime, it's the general cable PPV model where the distributors take 50%. Then take Floyd's 32m guarantee and you don't need a high school diploma to figure out the rest.

It's natural that Espinoza would be partial to Mayweather and Golden Balls as much as possible. He's been described as "The long-time lead attorney for Golden Boy Promotions". That's just about since Golden Balls began...?? They may have a close personal friendship also...

And....here has been much trouble between Espinoza and Arum, I that Arum called him a "creep who didn't answer any of my calls". So when a bit of the surrounding background is known, then their public faces are more understood.

Espinoza seems to have bought into the bitter rivalry of Golden Balls and Top Rank by saying that "Mayweather will fight Pacquiao any-time any-where, the fight can definitely be made" and then he puts in a sly non-sequitur that " Pacquiao can leave Top Rank for just this one fight".

To me this seems just another like the nonsense they proposed for "renting" Nonito Donaire for a fight, offering $3 mill to Top Rank. However...they had a little clause in the small print which said that they could cancel the fight for any reason up to 14 days before fight-date, WITH NO PENALTIES.....I believe that Donaire's attorney spotted this, because Golden Balls did the very unprofessional thing of sending the contract direct to Donaire. Obviously just a load of PR crap.

I think it was then that Arum and Espinoza parted in a less-than-friendly manner.

If there are all these strained relationships on both ends. It further supports the reality that the fight can't be made in the traditional, co-promotion type way. And since Floyd is in the driver's seat. I don't see why Arum can't bow out, especially since he won't be losing any money. And doing what's best for his fighter. Who seems to really need this payday.

You should ask yourself why Showtime is unwilling to work with other promoters, forget TR. It's a new model they're pushing, if you wanna be on SHO you better go GBP/Haymon, or come in as a 10/1 patsy.

Floyd's not gonna leave because Floyd is gonna make big money regardless of whether the events sell or not. Showtime is the one losing money. That's why I'm saying it makes no sense for them to publically support Floyd if he's genuinely the one blocking the fight. Obviously, its some legitmacy to Arum being the problem if Showtime would rather lose their ass in these bull**** fights Floyd is about to put on, rather than deal with Arum. That's why saying Floyd is the one blocking makes no sense, based on this article. It doesn't make business or common sense.

You don't know-and neither does anyone else, really- whether Phoney Phloyd will be making such huge amounts. He's full of fakery. Don't you recall his huge "guarantees", where it was revealed that the "guarantees" were those given by himself to himself....

Don't you recall his "$32 mill guarantee" which was specifically done so that he could claim the World Record for guarantees, beating out Mike Tyson's LEGITIMATE $31 mill guarantee.

We know nothing about the Showtime deal except that it was for "up to 6 fights over 30 months". Reporters were speculating that it might be for a total over over $200 mill. But that was only reporter speculating. And apart from that, we know NOTHING, and never will, until a biography is written....and even then it could be wrong or grossly exaggerated.

Does anyone remember Phoney's $20 mill MMA payment....?? Didn't it turn out to be around $2 mill....? This is SHOW BUSINESS with the P.T. Barnum touch literally plastered all over it.

I wish you guys who are so keen and partisan wouldget a little logic and common-sense. It would be easier then to communicate intelligibly with you.

I believe it was a Forbes report. But either way. With as much money as Floyd is being guaranteed and the amount of money they're putting into promoting the events. I would think that the PPV numbers have to be north of a million for Showtime to turn a profit. And its likely closer to 1.5m than a mil. Either way, Showtime needs Floyd-Manny. So it does them no good to help Floyd duck him. Which has been my point all along.

HBO is refusing to work with GBP. So its not a foreign concept. At days end. Whomever you place the blame on for the fight not happening. Recent history dictates that Floyd is i n the driver's seat. So if Pac genuinely wants the fight. He's gonna do what he's gotta do.
