It's all about the weight. That's just ridiculous. It's about the fight.

Aside from beating Broner, what has Maidana done? in his whole career? I actually quite like Maidana, but he's getting too much credit for beating upon a kid.

Canelo was a 24 year old boy, Maidana is a 30 veteran man in his prime. While I still think Floyd is the all time greatest cherrrypicker who cleverly avoided the more dangerous boxers thus remained "undefeated", Maidana just might be the cherry he chokes on an dies. Like Broner, they see him as a boxer with limited skills, then again, he's strenght may just be enough to catch up with Floyd and beat him. You say Maidana isnt fast, ok, but then again he threw nearly a thousand punches in his last fight, enough to gives Broner more Maidana than be could handle during all 12 rounds. While Floyd would still be favorite, he better run and counter looking for that SD or UD. It would be the fight people thought Canelo could do (and they were of course wrong).
Most posters on NSB knew what Broner was - an overhyped lightweight. Especially after his performance vs Malignaggi. Broner is a good fighter, but he's flatfooted and he's most certainly not a WW. It's easier to throw 1000 punches vs a stationary target that Broner is. Khan also throws between 700-900 punches in most of his 12 round fights - it doesn't really mean anything when it comes to landing on a much more elusive target in a Floyd Mayweather.

Ok, lets make it simple. Since being stopped by Garcia, what has khan done??

Furthermore, since losing to Devon what has Maidana done??

Maidana deserves the fight over Khan. If Khan would have fought Devon Alexander at welterweight I don't think anybody would have a problem with him facing Mayweather. If he would have beat a top junior welterweight he may even be deserving of the fight. Despite he probably would have a tougher fight style wise than Maidana he has done anything in the past two years. He was knocked out by Garcia and lost to Peterson who was destroyed by Matthessye he just clearly lost to Garcia. Beating Molina and Diaz doesn't equal Mayweather fight.

I am not saying Khan is in a better run of form than Maidana. Far from it - i'd be an idiot to claim that.

What has Pacquiao done since losing to Bradley to deserve a Mayweather fight? What has Cotto done since losing to Mayweather to deserve a Martinez fight?

I don't want to compare Khan to Pacquiao and Cotto of course, but you get the point. Maidana has shown himself to be outboxed against much inferior opposition to Mayweather, including against Khan when he was in his absolute prime. Khan has never been outboxed, but has been knocked out a couple of times vs big punchers. And he has beaten better fighters than Maidana has beaten.

And so would you prefer a Khan fight vs a Maidana fight based on the fact that Khan would give Floyd more problems? Or are we beginning to look after the fighters best interests as fans, or do we want to see good fights?
He beat Lopez, he beat Soto-Karass, and he beat Broner. That's a solid run.

I'm not focusing on the Garcia loss, I'm focusing on 2 years of Amir Khan's career which have been ****. He has not done anything to matter again since his 2 losses, and in fact has looked downright average against questionable opposition.

You asked if Maidana deserves the fight more, not what people prefer. Yes! Quite obviously Maidana deserves it more. If he gets the fight instead of Khan, I can't say a bad word about it, even though I would rather see Mayweather-Khan. Khan has done nothing to earn a Mayweather fight.

Your posts in response to everyone saying Maidana deserves it more are doing nothing to prove otherwise. You're trying to argue why Khan is a tougher fight, which is an entirely different question.

Khan has done absolutely nothing to deserve a Floyd fight.

But at the very least Pacman/Cotto dominated their last fights.

Is it a solid run? Soto-Karass was 2-4-1 (NC) in his last 7. Not really that impressive is it? Josesito was 1-2 in his last three and basically has no business at 147 I think we can all agree. I'll give him credit for the Broner fight, because in all honesty it was a good win.

Also, history likes to look at the records, but Khan didn't lose against Peterson. It was hometown cooking at its best mixed with PEDs. Which is why he kept his belts.

The last year with Hunter has been a case of a step backwards to make 2 steps forward - and I would have preferred him to fight Devon in between, but I negate the notion completely that Maidana is way more deservant as his run at WW has been average at best.
