The super helps by letting him fight his mandos less often - in effect it means that HBO can air the fights they want him in (GGG - Murray) rather than having to 'waste' slots on fights they think people won't be interested in (ie GGG - Chudinov).
Arguably it might have even been possible to still have Murray as a mando fight (if he hasn't already been stripped of interim status) - with the extended time between mandos - which may be why this came up so soon after the Chudinov win.
Does anyone know the actual status of the interim champ at the moment BTW - is it still Murray, now Chudinov or (as I've heard some suggest) gonna be fought over between Murray, Chudinov or possibly someone else?
The last time they set up a purse bid was with N'Dam.
Also...it's the WBA. They'll go with the fights they feel is bigger money. Chudinov doesn't even have his eyes anywhere near Golovkin. I remember his list of opponents included Mayorga, Jeff Lacy and Jermain Taylor. I don't think they'd mind a purse bid since Hyrunov is backing Chudinov and that guy is effing loaded.
No way he doesn't make money back with a fight.
Murray has also been allowed to stay the mando for a while now.... don't know how much more time is needed there. If anything, he should just drop the interim belt to avoid any kind of purse bid situation.
The WBA said everything is as it was before and Chudinov just fought an eliminator for something.... I think it was the interimComment
