Clottey fought some great competition and most of his losses are either controversial or mitigated somewhat by circumstances in the ring. He was a very threatening contender when Pacquiao fought him, it just doesn't seem that way in hindsight. He was about as qualified for that fight as the Ghost was for Floyd.
The Reason Why Pacs Stock Has Fallen

Pac's fighting style has definitely changed and I think that's one reason he stock as fallen. Somewhere around the 10th or 11th round of the Margs fight, he decided that he didnt want to shred guys anymore.
Now it seems like he only fights to defend himself. If he's in the ring with someone who he thinks he has beat, he doesnt give 100%. We saw this against Bradley and Rios. He could have easily put more pressure on Bradley and cemented some of those questionable rounds. He was about to get Rios out of there in the 11th and 12th and literally stopped hitting him and backed away. It's almost like he feels guilty for ruining Margarito and doesnt want to permanently hurt anyone.
Now, if Pac is in the ring against someone who poses a legit threat like Marquez, then he will go all out to the point of getting put to sleep. The problem is just about every WW out there NOT named Mayweather is a guy that Pac can most likely bludgeon to death.
To get a scintillating performance out of Pac these days, he needs to be in with someone who poses a real bonafide threat. So either Mayweather or a Marquez fifth fight. And no one wants a fifth Marquez fight.Comment

Pac hasn't fought a legit welter since Clottey and that fight looked sketchy as hell.thats the problem, people like ts believing the crap floyd has said
ortiz and guerrero were c level guys, someone like rios would actually kill them, hence showtime losing like 20m on guerrero
you see, lets look at pacs last 3 guys
rios, marquez and bradley
look at the guys floyd has faced recently at 147 guerrero and ortiz, pacs guys are better
resume wise floyd has avoided the best and still does so, he fought canelo after draining him big time which showed in the fight
prime pac, williams, mosley, cotto, margo and more like kosta
floyd has ducked them all
the problem is golden boy spout rubbish, just look at the khan fight, he is on the same level as guerrero and ortiz, there is nothing different, these are terrible match ups but as long as they can keep tricking the average person like ts, they will fail to see the light
thankfully the majority have seen it now though
You dont know what the hell youre talking about.
Comparing Ortiz, Guerrero and Canelo to Rios, JMM and Bradley
****ing Pac stans
Hey, at least you didnt bring up Press Row scoring

If you compare Ortiz, Guerrero and Canelo to Rios, JMM and Bradley, then the latter three fighters come ahead in every respect except for sheer size. Maybe the first group looks great if you think that Andre Berto is a world-beater... because that's the best win on Ortiz' and Guerrero's record.Pac hasn't fought a legit welter since Clottey and that fight looked sketchy as hell.

He got iced by a 40 - year old lightweight...In the eyes of the majority of PPV purchasers that made him look like nothing, or at least never being the guy who could beat Floyd. Basically Team Pac/Top Rank played a waiting game and Manny failed to hold up his end of the bargain when he got KTFO. All the spamming and circle jerking on here won't put humpty dumpy back together again.Comment

I agree, he is a Floyd stan. He should concentrate on who Floyd is fighting, and hopes and preys floyds gives his fans something to cheer about rather than fighting historically small fish, no name guys like Ortiz and Guerrero.
He should hope one day that FLoyd may fight people as good as JMM and Bradley on a regular basisComment

Zombie Warrior - Part I
The slack that Manny gets cut for his passivity is breathtaking. As a fan of the sport I don't look at his seeming lack of interest as virtuous, not when I think he's been bequeathed these aspects by his brain dead army. His singular lack of forceful interest in the fight makes me believe one of two things. Either Manny is developmentally disabled "DD" (I mean this honestly), or he's so indebted to Arum he'll have to fight under contract until the end of time. Given Manny's lifestyle, I'd say the latter is probably true, but if it is, it wouldn't be dissimilar from being a full blown ******.
Fans are trying to carefully keep score about who said what as if a statement made by either camp can be taken seriously. I see the stuff in the media as mere distractions from the reality that Manny can't fight whomever he wants, not as long as he's under contract with Bob Arum. But what makes this situation all the more grim is the fact that Manny displays very little in the way of a personality or will. Freddie Roach's contention that Manny would end up broke came to pass, its real and its here.
I find it strange that Pacquiao doesn't behave like a man that's in need of a different promoter, or that has money or personal issues. He seems to be aloof to his own crises, that strikes me as really weird, almost zombie like behavior. But oddly enough Pac's fans see past this and only see Mayweather obstruction, even to the point Mayweather the man is degraded in vulgar, oftentimes racial terms.
Time after time Bob Arum is dismissed by the Pacquiao obsessed as essentially a bit player and not the man holding all of the strings. It means something that Bob Arum is Manny's boss, just like it would mean something if he fought for GB. What it means in this instance is that Arum is going to play whatever hand he has and he isn't going to look back. Truth is, Bob knows he doesn't need to do much to incite hatred on Mayweather and distract from himself. So we're left with Pac the zombie.....Last edited by Slip Stream; 12-28-2013, 08:27 PM.Comment

Good article, outstanding flowery lingo. Let me explain, it's more of a scoop when a superstar boxer does not go broke. Look at Holyfield, made more money than Pac. Look at Tyson, you think it's all Don King's fault? You know SRR died in poverty? The slack that Manny gets cut for his passivity is breathtaking.
