The best are supposed to fight the best if not retire. Sergio is the champ at 160 Golovkin is #1 challenger. No excuses.

It is prizefighting, the prize is not the sporting achievement of beating the best in your division nor is it the belt, it is the money.

The worst thing about hype drinking Kool-Aid guzzlers are responses like these. The Matthysse thing didn't put these fools in their place. Nothing will put these fools in place. HBO/Showtime starts hyping somebody and they start juggling on the guys nuts like clockwork.

That's why this sport sucks when it comes to competition. UFC is good because all the top fighters want to join the one organization where they actually put on competitive fights yearly instead of us wishing and hoping the commissions, promoters and networks get together on the full moon and make a good damn fight we want

You get rewarded by fighting a fight that produces enough interest that people will pay you enough money to fight that fight. I would prefer that Martinez fought Golovkin and Cotto fought Canelo but if I was Martinez i'd definitely be doing the same thing. Better to have more money than to satisfy boxing fans on the forums.

Is GGG a coward for not moving up to 168 to fight Ward or Froch? Is GGG a coward for saying he is willing to move down to 154 to fight a guy who should be fighting at 140 (Mayweather), but refusing to move up in weight?

The fact is the only cowards in boxing are the promoters, who are afraid to risk putting their cash cow or potential cash cow in the ring against someone who might beat them and diminish their earning capacity. This is the reason why Canelo Alvarez is choosing between Angulo and Molina instead of Kirkland and Lara and why Arum will not make a rematch between Rigondeaux and Donaire.

All boxers are fighting for the money (in spite of what Pacquaio has conned his sheep into believing) and they choose to fight the guys who can make them the most money with the least amount of risk. Martinez will make five times the money fighting Cotto that he would make against GGG. If he beats Cotto, he could end up on the short list to fight Mayweather for even more money. That is why he is fighting Cotto. That is also why GGG offered to go down to 154 to fight Mayweather but is unwilling to move up in weight to fight Ward.

Anyway, if he tries to fight a questionable opponent on HBO for his last contract fight...maybe.

We all know he wants Canelo afterwards
hes not going to get him though if he doesn't face golovkin, HBO is forcing him to face him after cotto, and if he disagrees its either retire or ggg, he has one more fight on hbo on his contract.

Are you really that dense? Fighters join UFC because UFC pays the most money and gives them more opportunities to make more money. The fighters don't give a damn about competitive fights.

Dana White makes competitive fight cards because he wants to make as much money as he can and he can't make nearly as much money putting a bunch of journeymen on a card as he can by putting the best fighters he has on a card.
