Is Sergio a coward for not fighting GGG?

Or is he doing the right thing in going after a bigger payday against Cotto?

Yes, he's obviously afraid of Golovkin

No, if Golovkin was a draw and a cash cow Sergio would fight him

No.. GGG has truly done nothing, IMO. Now if they don't fight by the end of next year and he goes the route Donaire did with Rigo, then I'd change my thoughts

I'm a huge Sergio fan, but I'd be a huge hypocrite if I made an excuse for him. We've seen GGG's numbers on HBO. He's the most well known MW besides Sergio. So that's not an excuse.

I'm giving Sergio a 1 fight cushion. He's just coming back, and he's getting paid $$$. If after the Cotto fight, he still ducks, then yeah, coward territory.

No. It would be nice if he did but he shouldn't feel obligated and he doesn't. The guy is nearing 40 and wants big money fights that he's earned. GGG should follow suit.

He's getting money in the twilight of his career. Cotto a good opportunity, then if he wants to keep his belt, defend against Rubio.... unless he unifies with Golovkin...and doesn't unification have priority over mandatory?

Anyway, if he tries to fight a questionable opponent on HBO for his last contract fight...maybe.

We all know he wants Canelo afterwards

At the moment nope, he is obviously chasing bigger money fights and considering his age, injuries and past sacrifice i dont blame him. Now this fight he either retires (If his knee can hold up) or fight GGG.

It's a business decision...Cotto brings farrrrr more money than GGG. Cotto or Canelo are far better business choices. Sergio is done imo...he isn't the same fighter and he wants to cash out. I don't like talking down on someone whos at the top of the game and does this for a check unless it's totally one sided. Cotto/Canelo both have chances to win, and while GGG might be harder .... money wise it's a no contest.

Sergio should be retired. Anything he does at this point should strictly be to provide for his future. Enough with the childish superhero crap arguments NSBrs come up with.

Martinez is obviously trying to get paid. This is a non question.

If he doesn't fight GGG next, he's scared. Somebody said unification override mandos.... forgot that. That means Rubio takes a back seat to Golovkin.
But we all know Sergio wont' do that
