Should Martinez beat Cotto and then doesn't fight Golovkin then I will lose a bit of respect for Martinez unless he retires because of his injuries or because he takes a fight with Mayweather or Canelo.

I just remembered Martinez could fight golovkin over Rubio with a unification.... But WBC hate that and Rubio will try to have him stripped

If Cotto uses his fundamentals and boxes, he can give Martinez a lot of problems.

We need to see how well Martinez can do after the layoff and multiple injuries. If the odds are good, I'll take cotto

The WBC belt should be of little importance for either party in a potential Martinez-Golovkin match up after a Martinez win over Cotto. I'd imagine Golovkin would be the biggest financial fight after Mayweather and Canelo therefore the danger of being stripped by the WBC is of little importance especially when he is the lineal (ring) champion. For Golovkin the WBC is not greatly important because beating Martinez would make him the legitimate middleweight champ regardless of whether he has two belts rather than one.

Martinez wants that belt though. He got pissed off when he lost it and chased it. He doesn't need it to be the lineal champ, but I feel like he'll want to hold on to it if he can. I don't see Sergio running after golovkin as well. Sergio could get a million plus fighting golovkin, but I don't see him that interested over that muh

The most HBO can do is stop a Canelo fight from happening, but Canelo is interested and Sergio wants all the big money fights before he can retire. He could fight Golovkin and still fight Canelo because Canelo doesn't care if you're old or coming of a loss, he wants your name

WBC don't like unifying.. they want that belt for canelo.
That's why they want Floyd to make up his mind on which belt he gives up.

Look who will have shots if either are vacated....

                  154: Canelo
                  147: Pacquiao

                  WBC already moving for money
