He chose Cotto after making Cotto wait more than 10 years to fight. He wouldnt' fight Cotto in his prime. So he was hoping Cotto had too many wars, that defeats to Pacquaio and Margarito had taken too much out of Cotto.... Floyd nearly guessed wrong on those assumptions, and got drug into a street fight he did not want to be in. Got his face bloodied and swollen, immediately looking for sunglasses after the fight. hence immediately he reconciled with his dad so to learn how to get on his bike and not engage in battles like that again, no matter how far after their prime they are.

      • it these are the two choices then I rather see khan he would have an easy time with maidana I rather see him fight a boxer with probably more hand speed. both mediocre

Give me a break on thinking Floyd is the man here...Let me help you out with how strategic, how hand picked those guys you mentioned were:

Alvarez: 23 year old lacking experience who had a war with Austin Trout who nobody had heard of.

Guerrero: His dad taught him on the heels of the street fight he accidently landed with Cotto, get on your bike and stay away. He wouldn't engage Guerrero, and Guerrero was absolutely flat footed.

Cotto: Past his prime, still got Floyd drug out to deep water, but beyond his best years, and didn't have enough to turn the heat up on floyd. (Floyd avoided him for 10 yrs).

Ortiz: Young & ******. Maidana destroyed Ortiz. Ortiz was still roughing up Floyd when floyd took his chances on a break to get out with his life.

Mosley: Avoided Shane for more than 10 yrs in Mosley's prime, and steps in with a 40 year old Mosley, with many wars under his belt, and yet nearly stopped Floyd in 2 rounds; Shane just didn't have enough at 40 yrs old to finish the deal.

Marquez: LOL... Floyd purposely missed making weight for that fight and came in some 20 pounds+ heavier than Marquez on fight night. Marquez stood their flat footed and tried to counter all night. Very strategic on Floyd's part.

The ONE guy he fought in his prime was Oscar dela Hoya, who most that saw that fight felt Oscar won the fight, bust up Floyd's face. hence floyd wanted so little to do with Oscar, he walked away from a $25M rematch offer to fight Oscar again...

Now you want to keep singing the praises for Floyd Junior like he's done something special aside from his manufactured record???? Listen, had Floyd fought and beaten Mosley, Cotto, Pacquaio and Sergio Martinez in their primes, and extended rematches to prove that was no fluke, then he's the man. Because that's how the legends before him did it. Mayweather is all about a paycheck... he's a weasel, and nowhere close to the legendary status of the Hagler's, Leonards, Robinsons, Hearns, Durans, Arguellos.... no where close.

******..... there are a dozen guys that deserve a shot at Mayweather before Amir Glass Chin Khan..... if you want speed, put Devon Alexander in there to jab and show fast hands and feet... this isn't a track meet. Khan is a long ways from his best days. Maidana should be second in line to Pacquiao.

He made Mosley and Cotto wai 10 years! He walked away from a $25M rematch with Oscar Dela Hoya, the ONLY guy he fought in his prime and most felt Oscar go screwed. So much so, Floyd didn't want to do it again.

I don't think Oscar was in his prime and he lost very clearly just wondering what rounds you gave Oscar in that fight Because I don't get how you could think it was close I just thinks you saying that fits your agenda .
