Comments Thread For: Lucian Bute: Pascal Fight Could Become One-Sided

Lucian Bute (31-1, 24KOs) feels very confident as his training camp continues for the all-Canadian battle with fellow former champion Jean Pascal (28-2-1, 17KOs). Bute moves up to the light heavyweight division to face Pascal for the NABF title on January 18th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Bute will be coming off a decent layoff, with an inactivity stretch that dates back to November of 2012. But he feels that his high punch output may end up overwhelming Pascal in the fight.

I favor Bute in this one. As long as he doesn't get hurt, cause his recovery skills are pretty bad, he should be able to outbox Pascal.

Really looking forward to this fight, hope not another postponement.

I pick Bute via UD, but could easily see Pascal UD or TKO.

One Sided??? Bute is the most "protected" fiter ever thas why he stayed outta the Super Six and went to HBO hes like the Felix Sturm of Canada. Bute will get his BOOTAY whipped again. Pascal has faced and beat better opposition and will get a solid UD.

I agree except I think Pascal gets frustrated along the way and gets overly aggressive leading to a flush left uppercut KD. I think he does get up but gets outboxed by the superior boxer and loses a UD.

Was he even invited to to join the Super 6?

As far as I know, the deal was 3 Americans, 3 Europeans..

I dont think there was such a deal of having 3-3 ratio but even so Bute is a European fiter as he "officially" represents Romania according to Boxrec

Yeh he was and i remember there was a big deal about how hes a champ and doesnt wanna prove himself by coming in to the Super Six and Robert Steiglitz was WBO champ and no one even cares about'em

Super Six was a Showtime thing and rite then he signed a 3 fite deal with HBO and had a good excuse.

You just have to look at the cupcake defenses he has made and that Librado Andrade incident was beyond pathetic shows how protected he is

This will be a 115-113 type fight... mark it down..

Both guys will have their moments

I feel that pascal is the more awkward of the 2 and will give bute alot of problems much like how he did dawson..

i like pascal by decision, but can totally see bute getting a hometown decision, even though they both fight out of the same place,,, Bute is the "favorite" son, Pascal should win, but if its close Bute will take the decision IMO
