Martinez has made it to top 3 P4P and has been top 5 for a while. Also has become The Ring champ, something Cotto hasn't done in any of his 3 weight classes. Also, Martinez actually beat champs for their titles, not vacant belt fights like Cotto vs Quintana, Cotto vs Jennings. Cotto has beaten only one champion, and that was Yuri foreman.

Pavlik's career was derailed by B-Hop and drinking. He spent more time in hospital than training camp, but still dropped Martinez and Sergio barely beat him by decision.
Chavez's career was all hype to begin with and he was the slowest, laziest MW paper champ in history AND HE STILL managed to drop and almost KTFO Martinez.
