This is why the titles are meaningless, Cotto just won his first fight in years and now he's in the position to fight for a title in a weight class he's NEVER performed in!

Canelo is there a 54 so is Trout, so is Kirkland let Cotto fight in his class then then when he puts together a win streak he can challenge te Middleweight Champ after the Middleweight Champ settles his challenges at 160!

You see its not about Titles or nuber ne ontenders its all about money!
Oscar isno better or worse than Arum and Mayweather is a joke!

Theres a reason why boxing is no where near the top anymore and its not because of a dried up talent pool, its greed in the business.
It can b run as a sport the mney would be there the promotion companies would just ave to work harder to compete withone another.
unfortunatly the prisoners are running the joint and their theives!

Money speaks. Rubio will step aside and the WBC will sanction it for money

Sheet just got real deep aka ****!

I never liked cotto but I'm gonna thank him verry much for taking a life threatening beatdown to entertain me in june.I will also thank him for showing that duckweather is the biggest ducking beotch in boxing history.Duckweather is the best fighter that ever lived at cherry picking and ducking opponents of all time.Duckweather nickname should be "Floyd the cherrysize**** mayweather".Cotto thanks for sacrificing yourself for the sake of sergios mega payday. This is the best christmas present I could have recieved.

Cotto has always been a very confident fighter even after losing. He does not know what he's getting himself into even against an older Martinez. He's too small for 154 let alone 160. Roach feeding his ego does not help much, though I understand why he does it.

That said I'm going to attend this one. I've got to attend a Cotto fight before he retires, and it's likely this will be his last at MSG.

Some of you actually think that It's gonna be an easy day for Sergio. But you have to remember he's on the wrong side of 30.. He definitely doesn't have the pop in his punches like he did a few years back and he's not fast by any means... It's his stamina that will give Cotto the most problems. Cotto better get I'm some early rounds in the bag cause I see him gassing out late and losing by UD. If Cotto can actually outbox Martinez while not going to war and taking heavy hits then Cotto winds by UD.. I don't see either wining by KO. and you can take that to the bank.

            this is a great fight.

Cotto is taking a big risk but you have to give him props for it.

Martinez could be shot but he might not be.

Chavez caught him in the last minute but people forget Martinez totally dominated that fight and utterly beat down Chavez. broke up his face.

he basically fought Murray in the rain on a knee that wasn't totally healed.
people really forget that part of the fight, it was in the rain and that would kill a guy who uses his legs as his defense.

if Martinez is 100% healthy he'll stop Cotto in the mid rounds but if Martinez's legs are gone I think Cotto takes him late or gets a UD or MD

He does it for the glory and the money. Like all prize fighters should. Think about the legacy that cotto will leave behind. After everyone called him out for taking a knee, cotto has gone on to fight pac, margarito, mayweather, a style mismatch in trout, and now, Sergio p4p martinez. That is a glorious wind down towards the end of his career. He has a couple more fights left in the bag, which i see being bradley at 154 and maybe a provodnikov, who i see moving up in weight after he wins a few titles in the welterweight division.

If Cotto can trap Martinez against the ropes, then it will be an interesting fight. It's a 60-40 fight in favor of Martinez. I think Cotto will look a bit sluggish at 160lbs, but he'll still fight his heart out and make it a tough fight for Martinez.

Cotto has shown a lot of guts to move up and fight Martinez, kudos.

I guess he'll be trying to emulate Martin Murray's gameplan. He actually has a similar defensive guard to MM and possibly better footwork. Not sure about punch resistance and power tho. Anyway, huge fight.
