Sometimes sparing partners are brought in to emulate or mimic the style of another fighter so in reality hes beating the guy whose pretending to be someone else I bet canelo destroyed tons of sparing partners pretending to be Floyd. For Pac and prob pac is in full training mod and workouts getting ready for a fight while the other guys are just there to spar. Look at the diff a training camp makes especially for pac for the Rios fight he looked old sluggish by the end he looked beast.

Hmm, this thread seemed to have blown up a bit while I was offline , good to hear your thoughts guys! But yeah, I agree, in some instances the grudge match type and history of being sparring partner relationships often turning into animosity can lead to better and more exciting fights in the end. But my point is, there shouldn't be double standards where in one instance you are ridiculed for fighting a former sparring partner, when really it should turn out to be more exciting as you know it could be competitive based on stuff that may have gone down during the sessions, and often both fighters will pick up on weaknesses they can potentially exploit.

As in fighting a specific former sparring partner of a particular fighter, not generally - example, Wlad and Wilder, or Froch and Groves.
