There are only four really credible challenges out there for Mayweather, Pacquiao, Bradley, Martinez and Golovkin. Mayweather will very likely fight none of them. None of the likely match ups are particularly interesting except for maybe Cotto should he beat Martinez.

What great opposition has Pac fought as of lates? A washd up Rios, a over the hill Jmm, a unexperienced WW Bradely
The reality is posters expect more from floyd because he is better than manny! Most will not admit it-they will dance around it but looking at what is considered a good competition for both shows this.

Imagine if they signed floyd/jmm 2? Most posters complain about floyd/tim. Yet these are the 2 best fights for manny right now.

There are no compelling or legit fights for floyd IYO other than guys on HBO who are contractually/politically unable/refuse to fight floyd or are MW's? Wow!

Has this standard ever been imposed on any other fighter?

Reality is Pac would have Guerrero and Ortiz for breakfast.
Thats the reality of how little Floyd delivers. Pac had Bradley and JMM for breakfast enough times.

Thats what it boils down to, Floyd isnt delivering much. All mouth. Floyd needs to fight some p4p fighters, and not be scared of fighting people hes favourite against who are smaller than him.

Canelo weighed 165 on fight night against Mayweather, if I am not mistaken Martinez routinely weighs around this weight on fight night, perhaps 167 or so and Golovkin weighs 170. Both could easily fight at 165 on fight night like Canelo to face Mayweather. So weight is not the problem.

Those are the four credible opponents right now, are there major promotional/network problems with each guy? Yes but I doubt they are all insurmountable. Also it is worth pointing out that Mayweather is the one who signed with Showtime, if he curtailed his best options by doing so then who is blame for that?

Khan, Maidana, Garcia and such like have almost zero chance against Mayweather. The four I named at least have some chance and therefore are the most credible and the more interesting fights. I'm not saying that to be yet another guy to have a go at Mayweather but that is just the way things look to me at the moment.

I'll give you Manny and Tim as they are ww's. I want to see the Martinez fight just to see if floyd can get the lineal MW title. we also agree the khan fight is garbage.

If GGG is ok then Quillin should be too. They have fought the same level of comp, QUillin just doesn't have HBO's hype machine behind him. You are entitled to your opinion but it just seems unreasonable to discount guys who have accomplished as much or more than GGG. Maidana and Danny, while lighter, have beaten far more quality opponetns than GGG.

Its hard to fault anyone for taking a deal like the one showtime offered floyd.

If floyd signed to fight JMM or Tim it would be seen by most posters, especially you, as the usual "cherrypicking" blah blah blah. These fighters are both ranked ahead of manny p4p.

If you don't count fantasy wins for floyd, don't for manny.

It'll probably be Amir Khan and Paul Spadafora. Two young, strong, hungry lions; it'll be like the superbowl.

I agree that in terms of accomplishments as professionals that there is fairly little between Golovkin and Quillin although Golovkin is still slightly ahead on that score but I think Golovkin has been a lot more impressive in his wins, particularly his best wins, than Quillin has. Time may prove me wrong but I think Golovkin is by far the superior of the two. Also Golovkin has gained very impressive ratings in a short period of time whilst Quillin is still something of an undercard fighter. Maidana and Garcia may each have had a better best win than Golovkin, Broner and Matthysse respectively, but i'm not sure if that makes them more credible. Ultimately I think Golovkin is a better fighter and that his extra weight adds to his chances against Mayweather. In short Golovkin looks to me to be a tougher opponent than Garcia and Maidana.

I'm not saying Mayweather shouldn't have taken the deal but to me as a boxing fan his best options as they stand right now do not lie on showtime. Therefore I am just underwhelmed by his options at the moment.

Golovkin's headlining is due to HBO pushing him to fill the vacuum they had last year losing floyd/canelo/broner, manny and sergio out, etc. Quillin was never going to headline over the GBP stars. Yes he's been knocking people out, but I think we can agree the opposition wasn't much of a threat.

Maybe so, but GGG would aslo be fighting at 154, a weight we, at least I, haven't seen him at.

AGain, I can respect your opinion, its just awfully hard to suggest no GBP fighter, fighters who have beaten better comp than GGG but are just smaller, are not acceptable opponents. You don't have to like the options -but to say they are not credible is something else.
