Comments Thread For: Cameron Furious With Promoters Over Lack of Doctor

Battered boxer Shane Cameron and his manager have criticized Fight for Life organizers for not having a registered doctor at last week's charity boxing event.

In a week when the dangers of boxing have been highlighted by Cameron's midweek emergency-ward visit and Sky Television presenter Stephen McIvor being admitted to hospital one day later with spinal fluid on the brain, the charity event's promoters have been forced to defend themselves against claims they failed to provide adequate medical precautions for the fighters on the bill at the Auckland venue last Saturday.

a bad night inside & out for shane... hope he continues fighting but if he keeps getting cut early his chances of securing another solid win are rapidly disappearing. he has a decent arsenal off punches. he throws everything with authority & has a better beard then I gave him credit for. if I were him I would look at lucas browne or leapai for future bouts. leapai is surely going to wait for his WBO shot but browne is waiting for an opponent for the vacant commonwealth title. no doubt he has the tools to beat browne but would he stand up to his power if hit cleanly? can he make it thru a fight without getting cut? i'd like to see that fight. it seems the Asian pacific region offers decent fights & better chances to move up the WBO rankings then anywhere else. brian minto is going to try & secure a few more nice paydays over there after beating Cameron.

There's no excuse for mistakes like that being made. The fighters have to be protected in the fights by the referee, and cared for after the fight by licenced qualified physicians. No if's and's or buts. Lance Armstrong is here somewhere on all fours looking for a dropped ball.
