  • Comments Thread For: Yuriorkis Gamboa Learning Tricks From Floyd Mayweather Sr.

Former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16KOs) is learning some new tricks by training with Floyd Mayweather Sr. in Las Vegas. The Olympic gold medal winner has been very inactive over the last few years, only fighting once in 2012 and 2013.

Gamboa won a twelve round decision over Michael Farenas to capture the WBA's interim-super featherweight title in December 2012. He came back in June of this year, now as a lightweight, to beat Darleys Perez for the WBA's interim-lightweight championship.

Good move by Gamboa, Mayweather Sr. will make Gamboa an even better fighter than he already is. I wish Gamboa would fight more often! Signining with 50 Cent was a big mistake!!!!

Yuri turns 32 tomorrow. His career may never be the same, but there's still a faint glimmer of hope that he can salvage some of what's left. Let's hope he rights the ship.

it is way too late for gamboa. he's got a purely athletic style, and he squandered his prime in the amateurs.

i think 50 cent will look for one big fight. taking part in gamboa's career has been a waste of his time financially, but when you're a multimillionaire you can have some expensive hobbies. ask jerry jones.
