Some of you are mentioning his age and it working against him but I feel it's a good move for him BECAUSE of his age. He will not be able to rely on his natural physical gifts as much for his offensive production so tightening up his defence and becoming less hittable is exactly what the Dr ordered for Boa. If he wan't to find success in future bouts as his physical dominance declines, he will need to up his boxing skills and ring IQ. Mayweather Sr is great for that.

This brings up a good point. Gamboa has relied greatly on his natural athleticism, reflexes and speed to overwhelm his opponents. Those are all components of the young. In a very few years, Yuri's gifts will start to fade.
