    Serious talks are ongoing at high levels concerning a potential fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, according to a recent report by The Los Angeles Times.

    Pacquiao is fighting Chris Algieri on HBO Pay-Per-View in Macau, China, whereas Mayweather is aligned with Showtime, having fought four of six bouts thus far to satisfy a multi-million dollar agreement he signed with the network and its parent company, CBS Corporation.

    Pacquiao***8217;s advisor, Michael Koncz, has stated that Pacquiao is not contractually bound to HBO, stating, ***8220;We***8217;re free agents. We do not have a contract with any network.***8221;

    Mayweather***8217;s next fight is slated for May 2.

    ***8220;We can confirm that Floyd Mayweather definitely wants the Pacquiao fight,***8221; a Showtime spokesperson wrote to The Times in an email that was also obtained by ******.com. ***8220;Everyone on our side ***8211; Floyd, CBS and Showtime ***8211; is advocating for the fight to happen.***8221;

    Although Showtime Sports boss Stephen Espinoza has declined comment through his publicist, Chris DiBlasio, The Times, citing key aides working for Mayweather and Pacquiao, reported that CBS Corporation Chief Executive Leslie Moonves has brought the two sides together.

    According to The Times, officials from Showtime and HBO have discussed a joint venture between the networks similar to that which facilitated the fight between undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson in June 2002. Lewis scored an eighth-round stoppage victory over Tyson in the bout.

    Lewis and Tyson were each affiliated with HBO and Showtime, respectively, at the time. Back in April, Lewis even challenged Mayweather and Pacquiao to emulate himself and Tyson on his Twitter account.

    ***8220;The guy carrying the ball is Moonves,***8221; said Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum, according to The Times. ***8220;He and I have talked on a number of occasions and he has suggested we see if we can reach an understanding. I assume, without knowing for a fact, that he***8217;s talking to the Mayweather camp.***8221;

    Pacquiao has hinted that he wants to face Mayweather before he retires and does so yet again in a humorous commercial for Foot Locker touting the sports apparel and shoe outlet***8217;s promotion, ***8220;The Week of Greatness.***8221;

    In the Pacquiao spot, ***8220;It***8217;s Happening,***8221; the eight-division titlist riffs on the ongoing attempts to schedule an oft-rumored mega fight with Mayweather.

    Regarding this fight ***8220;happening***8221; at any time now is sensitive as these two talented fighters ***8211; Pacquiao is 35 and Mayweather is 37 ***8211; aren***8217;t getting any younger.

      Manny is winning this pole by a wide margin.. Last time I checked this thread, Floyd was getting all the nods.

        Apparently Floyd has said that he wants the fight coming from a Showtime insider. Might be old news so idk if it's legit

            wont believe it until that coward is face to face with the Pacman. I dont recall Floyd ever meeting Manny in person, only firing shots on twitter, facebook and his webcam.

                If Pacquiao stops Algieri tomorrow you can damn well guarantee that talk of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will once again seem relevant again, at least to some.

                The poll here must have a lot of Pacquiao fans voting on it, because the majority of the boxing community believes that Mayweather would win handily. I like Pac as much as pretty much everyone else, but I'm also realistic. Only his foot and hand speed would make this the least bit interesting, but that alone is not enough to beat Floyd.

                    You've consistently posted some atrocious **** all week. By your logic, Manny is ducking Floyd, no? I don't recall him ever meeting Floyd face to face either.

                      Hello.

                      I won't knockdown Floyd because what he does, he does it well which is hit and not get hit, that's boxing 101. I find it a hard to believe that effective defense works a 100 percent of the time against Pacman, since he throws punches from so many angles and isn't stationary like most of his opponents(Canelo, Cotto, Robert etc.)

                      Pacman showed in this fight last night how effective he can be when he's aggressive and though Algeri is no Mayweather, he did had footwork and head movement. Sure, Algeri shoudln't have even been in the ring with Pac mostly because of lack of experience and since he can't punch, Pacman wasn't afraid to trade with him, but in the end Mayweather can't punch that hard neither, he would have to rely on counters and his jab to keep the Pac at bay, something Algeri did to all of his opponents, but couldn't to the Pacman.

                      Despite what his fans says, I believe the Pacman has the tools to deliver Mayweather his first defeat, he didn't looked that great vs Maidana in the rematch but so didn't Pacman vs Bradley, and that's all because of their styles and nothing else.

                      There's too much to take into consideration if the fight does happen because what will the judges see? Mayweather's apparent ring-generalship, or will he be running like Algeri was last night? Pacquiao's effective aggression, or him eating too much counter's while coming forward?

                      I'm tired of waiting like most of you, but if the fight doesn't happen this next year, I hope it doesn't happen at all.
