Add to that the fact that Yuri's been inactive and moving up in weight, and you have your answer as to why he's been lackluster.

As to the PEDs: I don't know if he's used any or not, but I've been watching Gamboa since long before he turned pro. He was always a special athlete, and he regularly underwent Olympic style testing. Not that it proves anything, but he's never tested positive before for any PEDs.

I don't know if Floyd Sr. is training Yuri now or if he just dropped by the gym. Whatever the case, the old man looks like he can still lay a whoopin' on cats.
Very insightful stuff, didn't know about that. It does make sense. Inactivity has definitely affected him. He's too good of a talent IMO, it'd be a shame to keep kind of wasting it away.

I see. It just seems as if after that Miami scandal, his explosiveness sort of disappeared. The little monster that he was just faded away.

It can't hurt training with Sr, he knows his stuff.

PS: I respect Cuban boxing by the way, I believe it is one of the few ones with pure educated boxing foundation. The style is just not one of my favorites if you get what I mean. But I do respect it.

Gamboa can still dominate if he wanted to. If he would just cut the crap and dedicate himself he could rule the division. I know some people are going to say Garcia whoops him and yes it could happen. But if Gamboa has a few comeback fights to shake off the rust and just focuses on boxing not one person can tell me he doesn't have a chance. Just too much skill.

        Thank you.

Gamboa had a lot of momentum at one time, but he bizarrely took a wrong turn. Even I have started to lose interest, and that's saying a lot. Yuri made a bad business decision and got himself shelved. Upon returning, he hasn't looked very impressive. Add a PED scandal to the mix and it gets tiresome. I hope Gamboa has something left. His career was so promising at one time.

Looks like this stuff is recent. Boxingscene just posted a thread about Floyd Sr. and Gamboa doing some work together.

            I'm happy to hear this.

I'm just happy to see him in a ring tbh, good to know he's still training despite not fighting. Floyd Sr will be a good fit with Yuri, he knows his stuff.

            Hoping for an active 2014...

I've heard Gamboa's a gym rat. He's probably never far from fighting shape. Despite all this talk of Floyd Sr. training Yuri, there still hasn't been any official announcement. No talk of his next fight...nothing.

He does look in great shape whenever you do actually see him, sadly it's not often. I'd like to think he's always sparring for sharpness purposes.

There used to be a good amount of training videos, fight talk and the likes but everything has gone dark. No word from Yuri, his 'promoter' or anyone else, about anything.

It's been a quiet and disappointing couple of years.

That right there is the perfect word fking bizarre...it has been a clusterfk since he got the Jedi mind trick done on him by Mayweather then dumped. Clusterfk doesn't even quite describe the result of the ****** decisions he has made.

It seems that official Facebook page he just started is an attempt to reconnect and spark some interest. I hope it's a sign that Yuri's getting ready to make a real run.

Yeah, it was just strange as hell, bro. Gamboa's popularity was growing; and when it was announced he was going to fight Rios, people got really charged up. After the debacle that ensued, Yuri's career seemed to deflate like a basketball. His decisions turned out to be complete shyte.

I don't know if he'll ever recover, but Gamboa needs a big fight to get him back on track. If they can set up a match at 130 with Mikey Garcia, and Yuri wins, it'll mean a lot.
