SHEFFIELD boxing promoter Dennis Hobson is said to be planning a unification showdown between light welterweight legends Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto, of Puerto Rico.

Top Rank's Bob Arum, who promotes Cotto, said he and Hatton co-promoter Artie Pelullo, have discussed the potentially explosive fight.
Philadelphia-based Pelullo's tie-up with Hobson and Hatton is due to be officially announced later this week.

We're in discussions, Arum said. "Nothing is done yet, but we have had discussions. It's a class fight. According to Artie, Hatton is interested in fighting Cotto and I know Cotto is interested in fighting Hatton."
It was mooted to be staged on June 10 at New York's Madison Square Garden...but that became unlikely when organisers realised that it is the same day England plays its opening football match against Paraguay in the World Cup - killing off UK TV interest

Only Cintron had a weak resume, Cotto has fought some tough opponents. Don't discount Cotto in this fight, he has a pretty good chance considering the type of fight that he actually fights.

Yeah, but Cintron, and Margarito sucks. Please, compare this to a better fight.

dont get me wrong, I could be wrong and it may turn out to be fight of the year, but I think the fight might be up for KO of the year, I dont see it going 12 round, Cotto has gotten in trouble when he gets hit , theres no secert there, and by guys who dont have the ko power like Hatton does

Hatton is able to take some shots, down once and he got right back up quickly
