TS does bring up a very good and valid point.

We are part of an entertainment business that thrives on controversy and dilemma as their main attraction points. People like drama and they like reality drama. Keeping Up With The Kardashians is one of the MOST WATCHED reality shows around, it is going on it's 9th season now. Are any of them talented or some of the greatest human beings of our generation? Of course not.

The industry and those in it recognize this, and keep exploiting it. Mayweather, as he has said it himself, is an entertainer. From the pre-fight trash talk, to the weigh in antics, to the continuous self proclamation as the best to ever do it... the audience feeds into that stuff and eats it up easily. Our society is very gullible.

Entertainment and talent do not go hand in hand in this market. Simple mathematic though shows us that controversy sells more which is what happens in Mayweathers case. If Pacquiao threw his dignity away like Floyd does and would trash talk his ass off, he would sell more than Floyd by far due to his more naturally entertaining and exciting style.

Well, if Showtime makes less than they spend on Mayweather fights, ie, $40 million guarantee, expensive undercards, expensive, crappy Access production, statewide tours, expensive weigh in show, expensive everything, then PPV numbers are really meaningless. Just Mayweather's guarantee alone would impoverish Showtime.

In this day and age it means who gets paid more!

But it does not mean I get to duck you because your latest pay per view did not match your previous ppv numbers because you fought in Macau and also recently lost. When it is the fight fans most want to see!!

They don't matter for the reason Floyd quotes them. Is Maidana or Khan going to bring more PPV than a fight with Pacquiao? (question is rhetorical)
