I went to the site you offered and there were forty seven articles on Kovalev. I saw nothing pertaining to the claims that you are making. So, if you want to make such strong accusations you should at least have a reliable source. And if I am wrong and you find the article that you are referring to, share it with us and I will be the first one to apologize to you.

OK - Bout 2/3rds down.
As I say: The Grover Young comments were immediately after Young robbed Kovalev of a legitimate win. Also FWIW I've seen another translation which reads as 'purebred b#tch'.
The comment 'sunburnt' people is a translation of Russian colloquialism - and in this article are related specifically to guys who exhibit criminal behaviour. It may well represent a deliberate attempt to use an inoffensive term for all I know. He specifically says he is not a racist and that he knows there are good and bad people from all backgrounds.
As you pointed out, in the masses of articles on the site there is no suggestion of a racist agenda or hints that Kovalev supports racism or any racist group.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 12-21-2013, 10:58 AM.Comment

Wow, from reading comments this Kovalev is a real piece of work. Trying to use the fact that he is Russian for calling African AMERICANS racist comments is a lame excuse. He is trying to cover the fact that he said those racist comments now by using the Russian language excuse. So if a white man says a racist comment, he can say it is because he was raised white?Comment

I've read the interview at http://kovalboxer.com/en/interview/text/170--l-r.html
Kovalev is Russian and finds difficult to adapt with living in the U.S.
The Russians are usually very proud with their nationality and don't have the habit of speaking "scrupulously" about other ethnics or "races"... The Russians usually don't show too much respect to others...
Though, (with the cited interview) Kovalev was respectful regarding Boone ("The most difficult opponent - Darnell Boone, he gave me a lot of problems.") and Hopkins ("He's a legend, I would like to adopt his experience, but at the moment it is impossible.") and even Stevenson ("Dangerous clubbing guy!") as fighters. Less respectful regarding Cleverly or Grover Young ("I quickly picked up the keys to it. In the second, he got a bit tired and decided to get away with pretending that I got him heavily on the head. Young referee seduced. Young - he's an actor, he fell to the floor, demanded a stretcher.")Comment

You stated that the article with the offensive language was written along time ago. However, unless Russian time is different then USA time it was written just four months ago. I also do not speak Russian and I was unable to translate that particular article. This is also the first I have ever heard of this so I have to ask if it was no big deal why did you bring to our attention?
I brought it to the attention of a particular poster in a simple response to this request -
Which was a response to this.
I don't believe he's a racist granted he did make some very foolish and inflammatory statements in an interview in the past, but so has Hopkins,Mayweather,Angel Garcia and I'm pretty sure that their have been plenty more.I don't consider any of these guys to be racist, and since Kovalev has came to the states he has trained with a Mexican trainer and an African american trainer,if he was a racist I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be comfortable working with either guy.
I hope this is sufficiently clear for you... in future I will probably pm anyone who asks questions of this nature.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 12-21-2013, 05:20 PM.Comment

The article I'm referencing here was written a few months ago asking about a comment made by Kovalev in an interview(?) after the Grover Young fight two and a half years ago. It was only brought to anyones attention (at the time Kovalev was barely even of contender status and essentially unknown) because, as I have stated several times some Kazakh fans of Beibut Shumenov, dug it out of some minor Russian language article about Kovalev after Kovalev made some critical comments (justifiably so IMO) about Shumenov a few months ago.

I happened to have some information on the matter and shared it. I now wish I hadn't, cos despite my repeated efforts to point out that there really ain't a big deal - you seem to want to create one. Have you even read my posts? My initial aim was to try and prevent the same fan base who brought up these accusations from gaining traction by giving some agenda based response to the above question - it seems my continued repetition of the fact that there was really no issue completely passed you by.
I hope this is sufficiently clear for you... in future I will probably pm anyone who asks questions of this nature.
You then started making excuses for why he may have said it when by your own admission you don't know what was actually said or if anything was said. You are also giving some traction to the agenda because you are the only one I have heard say anything about this. I didn't hear about it from some pissed off fan in Russia I heard it only from you.
As for anyone making a big deal about it that would be you. Because I only asked you a simple question about the source of your information. You still have not supplied a good source for that information. And since you are not sure what was even said I don't know how you possibly can.
Bottom line is that this is how rumors get started and until you know what was actually going on maybe you should keep what you think to yourself. And you claim to be Kovalev fan, I have to wonder what you would say if you truly didn't like the guy?Comment
