Comments Thread For: Report: Stiverne and Don King Settle Ali Act Lawsuit

A legal battle between heavyweight contender Bermane Stiverne and promoter Don King has come to an end, according to what Stiverne told Lem Satterfield of RingTV.com.

“It's been maybe in the last 24 to 48 hours that we sat down like two grown men and we talked it out, so everything's good now. We worked it out,” Stiverne told Satterfield. “We're good right now, so, we settled, and everything is perfect. We didn't see eye-to-eye for a couple of months, and we decided to sit down and go over certain things. We're back together.” [Click Here To Read More]

Love him or hate him, King is still a name. Young guys are probably flattered being asked to join him since he's managed so many legendary fighters. As long as he's in business there will be naive young prospects out there willing to sign with him. :\

Makes sense.... Feel bad because he exploits them so bad. 10 to the trainer, 25 to don and 16 to the other guy...jesus

Getting a promoter is not easy for most boxers. Boxers with superstar appeal (which is a small percentage) can choose their promoter, get a good contract, and look forward to great rewards. The average boxer that doesn't have a promoter knocking on their door will most likely have to do business with the devil (a shady promoter) rather than be in a position of not getting fights and not earning any money. If King is your only choice, then you will most likely sign with him and hope for the best.

That's a tragedy...I would definitely look to go with one of the smaller guys over king after all the horrible things he's done. Good name, but he'll rob you blind

I'm not terribly thrilled that King is still Stiverne's promoter but I'll glad this dispute is settled and now Bernie can go on with his title fight with Arreola.

Boxing is a sport full of criminals & uneducated people (not all). How many fighters finish highschool or have something to fall back on? Guys like don king thrive on people like that... 25% to king & 16% to king's stepson & that doesn't include 10% to trainer, etc... Stiverne's math skills must be weak but would he be in this position without king? I doubt it...

Makes sense he has a title shot now can't continue suing getting tied up in court.
