Earlier today, the President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Jose Sulaiman, stayed firm on his demand for Saul "Canelo" Alvarez to drop one of his two junior middleweight titles. Canelo, who holds the WBC title at 154, captured the championship of the World Boxing Association (WBA) with a twelve round decision over Austin Trout on April 20th. On Tuesday morning Canelo traveled to Panama and met with WBA Vice President Gilberto Mendoza, who officially presented the Mexican superstar with his title belt. Sulaiman is going to give Canelo four to five days to make a decision.

Though the World Boxing Council has not recently allowed for its world title to be held alongside other sanctioning bodies’ belts, super middleweight champion Andre Ward has been the owner of both the WBC and World Boxing Association titles for nearly nine months now. Ward captured the WBA belt in November 2009 when he beat Mikkel Kessler by technical decision in his first fight of the “Super Six” super middleweight tournament. He won the WBC belt in December when he topped Carl Froch in the tournament’s finale. (Ward defended both titles this past Saturday, stopping Chad Dawson.)

I was initially about to say "no way a unification happens", but K2's pockets are a bottomless pit. If Wladimir pays Uncle Sully enough to let him unify all the belts, he'll hopefully shuddup and let it slide.
Regardless of K2's pockets, shouldn't there be an exception to the rule for the Heavyweight division? It's easy to grab a WBC belt in a lower weight class, defend it, try to unify and then vacate and move up in weight. The stop is at the Heavyweight division where it's all about being THE CHAMP, and you can't achieve that with WBC's policy. Do they really expect Wlad to sacrifice three belts (IBF, WBO, WBA) just to keep one belt (WBC), and have a bunch of vacant belts floating around with new contenders calling themselves Champions.

If anything, they will lose out with this policy and be a secondary Title in the division.

These types of posts could really hurt your credibility as an objective member on topics concerning Wlad Klitschko.
Frankie is still butt-hurt from David Haye's limp showing in 2011.

After that wrestling match against Povetkin he doesn't deserve a chance period.

He's a level above every other HW. They're terrified of entering the ring with him; most capitulate at the pre-fight presser. Today's contenders are pathetic.

Wlad will unify, so long as the b1tch who takes the WBC strap doesn't keep it hostage.

Vitali is a great champ but this is going to be good for the division. All the big names will be on alert now that Vitali is out of the picture and a belt is actually attainable. This looks like the dawn of a new era at Heavyweight...

Pay any of these sanctioning body crooks enough cash and they'll let something worthwhile take place - including, hopefully, the unification of the world heavyweight championship at last.
Imo it's not right that Wlad holds 4 of the major belts in boxing and defends them against the likes of Mormeck, Wach, Pianeta. They're talking about Leapai next. It's a bit of a joke from what is essentially the No.1 fighter in the sport.

If you're holding that many belts at the pinnacle of the sport, then defend them properly. Consistently fight guys in the the division's top 10, preferably the upper half. Otherwise, vacate a couple of belts and give other fighters a chance to defend them properly.

Leapai is a mandatory. To say that Wlad doesn't defend his belts probably is a joke. Most of the guys in the top 10 talk the talk but don't wanna walk the walk unless the money's right. Look at them trying to beg their way into fighting for a vacant belt now they don't have to fight a Klitschko to get it.

klit contracts are slave contracts, as well as biased refs and dodgy docs

chisora pointed this out as did haye charr and a number of klits other opponents

wlad especially grabs and leans his way to a win, this guy is no gentleman nor half the sportsman he portrays himself to be.

opponents not only have to fight against wlad they also have a biased ref to contend with and docs who are quick to call off fights for cuts that look like paper cuts
