People saying Broner lost because he didn't take boxing seriously

I have to disagree on AB having no business being in there with Chino.
AB was not KTFO during the first half of the fight. And when he was KD, he got back up on shaky legs and continued on. He didn't take a dive nor did he quit on his stool. In fact, he started to rally back from the 3rd round on and probably had Maidana wondering what kept him up after those big shots landed.
What got Broner in trouble was Maidana's will to keep the momentum going when he had Broner hurt early. He didn't let up. He attacked Broner and simply overwhelmed him with a barrage of, not only punches, but a combination of punches which kept AB hurt, guessing, and befuddled.
Maidana capitalized big on a brief opening in AB's defense and kept chopping away and earned AB's and everyone's respect.
That was a huge learning lesson for AB. he can't be counted out yet.
If a rematch is made, AB will have to prove it wasn't a fluke and that Maidana simply had a great night.
Time will tell.Comment

Maidana was specifically handpicked to make Broner look great now what ended up occurring was he got his s*it pushed in.
Now if he had been fighting anyone lesser he'd have got touched up abit but won,
Now tell me what opponent would have made Broner really take boxing seriously, seriously it's crazy how people just ignore the reality of Broners personality and idea he had of himself as the next superstar, he took the fight as serious as he can take a fight.Last edited by BattleAxePurist; 12-18-2013, 12:37 PM.Comment

I've actually have more respect for Broner now, than I did before the Maidana fight. But I look at it slightly different than you did. Because imo Maidana damn near punched himself out in the 2nd round. If he did not hurt Broner early and gone for it, I'm certain he would have stopped Broner later when he hurt him. I think Broner's lucky Maidan hurt him early like he did and damn near blew his load.
The rematch will be interesting, and no doubt Maidana will be heavily favored to win.Comment

Nah, it was the same guy I've seen get hit countless times at Super Feather and Lightweight. Different story getting pummelled by a Welterweight who can move and punch.
He thought (as did I, admittedly) Maidana was just going to stand in front of him and he could tie him up and pick his shots. He wasn't ready for the storm that hit him in the first 3 rounds.Comment

his training is so serious and hardcore, he cracks jokes during sparring while getting lit up by amateurs.
