I have to disagree on AB having no business being in there with Chino.

AB was not KTFO during the first half of the fight. And when he was KD, he got back up on shaky legs and continued on. He didn't take a dive nor did he quit on his stool. In fact, he started to rally back from the 3rd round on and probably had Maidana wondering what kept him up after those big shots landed.

What got Broner in trouble was Maidana's will to keep the momentum going when he had Broner hurt early. He didn't let up. He attacked Broner and simply overwhelmed him with a barrage of, not only punches, but a combination of punches which kept AB hurt, guessing, and befuddled.

Maidana capitalized big on a brief opening in AB's defense and kept chopping away and earned AB's and everyone's respect.

That was a huge learning lesson for AB. he can't be counted out yet.

If a rematch is made, AB will have to prove it wasn't a fluke and that Maidana simply had a great night.

    Time will tell.
lol, no, he didn't. He landed shots here and there, one at a time. And every time he did, Marcos came back with at least 2 right away. That is not mounting a comeback. That's hoping to land a killer punch.

I think Broner's lucky Maidan hurt him early like he did and damn near blew his load.

It could've gone that way, sure. I think if AB would've had his defense tighter and expected a charging Maidana, it may have turned out differently. Maidana caught AB by surprise and AB couldn't re-group himself fast enough to turn things around.

The rematch will be interesting, and no doubt Maidana will be heavily favored to win.
look rematch. For what? dude was blown out.

I gotta agree with Maidana wearing himself out. I think he did to an extent, he's never had great stamina but I'm sure his punches would have more of an affect through more rounds had he not gone for broke on Broners face early.

Boxing is about skills and tactics among other things but at the end of the day the sweet science is also about two guys wanting to beat the crap out of each other.
Maidana did exactly what everyone in the boxing world knew he would do. He just did it with an intesity and balls that overpowered Broner's skill and speed.
At times Broners barked like a little terrier an landed a flurry of punches, but Maidana would just take them and keep coming after him non stop, throwing almost 1000 punches and landing almost twice as much as Broner.

Come on man! You think they didnt expect Maidana to charge like a bull?
Everyone has been saying just that for months.
"Maidana is taylor made for Broner, he charges at you straight ahead", and that's exaclty what he did.
I'm surprised Broner took the abuse he took, that kind of punishment is known to change a man so we'll see if Maidana ruined him the next time he fights a hard puncher. At the same time, I'm even more surprised by how Maidana could keep up that insane rate of fire for 12 rounds. Both fighters were in fantastic shape no doubt.

His mouth said one thing but you can tell he wasn't living the right way....dude went on tour and got fat....still doesn't take away from Chino's victory imo...a win is a win....dudes in their 20's and early 30's are not allowed to scream out no kind of excuses....this is a young man's sport, so no excuses allowed!!

Why can't dudes just call a spade a spade and display a little integrity...it's not that difficult!!

I suppose I have to partly buy into the excuse because I felt it was a major factor before the fight. I can still see his bloated face from the pics at the first presser, looked like hed been up for 48hrs, hangover setting in. Some of us here have had that same look, but we're not training to fight freight trains like Maidana. And I had just gone to the lopez-maidana fight and was taken aback at how hard marcos hit in person.

but uhh.. after seeing the fight play out, it's hard to argue he wasn't in pretty good shape. Maybe not his optimal shape for WW, but still cool enough to participate and survive in that kind of war. He just had his card pulled that night, whatever it was..style, lack of focus, not being in shape, not having the skill, etc, etc. It all came out and now he has to re-evaluate. He prob won't be able to go out in public for a minute..so after he heals, hopefully or him the gym becomes his refuge

Lol I get what you are saying. Him not being mentally prepared is not an excuse for him. In life you either deliver or you don't. From my observation of the fight he either wasn't mentally prepared or his corner is terrible. NO decent fighter should get hit by the same punch all night. And Maidana is a known ****er why would you try to stand and trade with him or walk him down?
