You are being selective in what Floyd says. Floyd says that his team "cherry picks". So that translates to not fighting anyone that represents risk so that means that it doesn't matter if he is scared or not because Floyd will not be fighting risky opponents because that defeats their purpose of "cherry picking".

So that is why Floyd didn't fight Manny. Didn't fight Sergio Martinez and any other fighter that his team thought was too risky.
