This is all damage control because the hype machine has been rendered impotent. Maidana executed their game plan perfectly and exposed a fighter in Broner that was unprepared for the task at hand. Honestly, watching this fraud with Mayweather was nauseating, his arrogance at having achieved nothing. But in defeat its apparent, he believed something that clearly wasn't remotely true, he thought he was the heir apparent to Floyd, when in actuality he's the second coming of Andre Berto.
One point that does come to mind. I think the reaction to Broner's loss is not commensurate with his fame, which is to say, I think there's more to the mass celebration than the pathetic Broner himself. On some level I think this is a vicarious thrill for some folks, because they know Mayweather will likely never be humbled like that so why not latch on to the pale shadow of Mayweather.
Dunno.....
