Comments Thread For: Shane Cameron Stays Quiet on His Future After Loss

A bowed and bloodied Shane Cameron is not making any decisions on boxing future after a cut above an eye forced an early end to his heavyweight bout against American Brian Minto.

Minto tagged the 36-year-old with a right hook in the third round in Auckland to open the skin above his left eye and after inflicting more damage the Cameron camp did not allow him to come out for the eight round.

The technical knockout takes Cameron's record to 29-4 while Minto, who won the WBO Oriental belt with the stoppage, now boasts a 39-7 record. [Click Here To Read More]

I feel for the guy. he came in great shape but minto may have been the wrong opponent for Cameron after a long layoff. reminds me of Alonso butler when he was 26-0 & was off for over a year. they brought him back against Friday ahunanya & he lost. he was never the same fighter after that fight & previous eye injury. the cut was really bad & it pretty much took away any chance Cameron had of getting back into the fight. the elbow & headbutt didn't help either as he ended up with 3 cuts. minto sacrificed 2 points to get that stoppage but it worked. I think Cameron should keep going but he does cut easily so it must be a huge letdown to train so hard only to have a cut end your night. I doubt they will rematch but i'd like to see it. Cameron turned down joe parker but minto wants to take him on...

I didn't get to see the fight but have been rooting fro Minto for years. One of the few, and by few I mean like two, local(ish) fighters from my area. He's from about 45mins from here, where I went to school at Slippery Rock right next to Butler PA.

He's a strong fighter, his fight with Arreola he showed huge balls.

At 5'11 215 he sure doesn't fight like it. He is tough as nails & he's never in a bad fight. Against arreola he went to a gunfight with a knife. He just isn't big enough nor does he hit hard enough to beat the top dogs.
