That is true. Floyd ended up fighting Marquez because he didn't want to fight Mosley in 2009. He waited so that Mosley grew another 16 months older and inactive for jut as long. Still, one needs to consider that previous to that fight, Mosley was not looking too good.
Either way, 16 months makes a huge difference at that age. Not everyone can handle that.Comment

This is a no-brainer. The fighter of the year should be Mikey Garcia for picking up 2 world titles in 2 different weight divisions, and having 1 title defense. The three fighters he faced were completely dominated. Salido, JuanMa, and Martinez are solid wins. So, the pick is easy, Mikey Garcia. This guy is on the cusp of boxing superstardom and elite level P4P #1 caliber boxing ability.
I don't believe the award should be given to guys that have one good fight the entire year, and I mean fiighters like D. Garcia, Rigondeaux, Bradley, Gonzalez. As for Mayweather, when he takes a fight against solid opposition that can threaten his undefeated record, maybe then will he get some respect. As long as he keeps taking easy fights that maximize money and minimize risk, he has no business being talked about as fighter of the year. Mayweather is "P4P #1" and should be held to a higher standard. He needs to fight someone like Pacquiao, Martinez, or Lara.Comment

Good to see Garcia and Rigo getting recognition. I picked Stevenson though, he completely upset the cart at 175 and then beat a former champ and a legit contender as well as avenging his only loss.
Stevenson
Garcia
Rigo
Floyd
Bradley
Provodnikov
Kovalev
GGG
Maidana
Gonzalez
in that order for me!Comment

Yep, Guerrero and Canelo were both #10 P4P before their respective fights with Floyd, Canelo is still #9 now. Plus, Guerrero was the #3 WW and Canelo was their JMW champion.
Pretty impressive year for Floyd from a Ring ratings perspective.Comment
