This and the Paulie fight is what happens when he can't rely on speed and power and size to wear his opponent down. You see how severely lacking he is.
You were right... Now you have the proof...

malignaggi looked big too, broner being 5'6 and just blowing up despite coming in nowhere near the limit, there are plenty of ways to make yourself heavy

he belongs at 140, not 147

although he sucks so im not sure it matters much where he fights

A lesson which most people NEVER learn! which makes places like this fun to hang out in. Especially when you hit the golden 50 like yours truly....even the ******est 50 year old begins to see a pattern eventually. We remember how this pattern repeats itself endlessly.

But we all do it. I fell in love with JUan Ma. I swear watching him come up. Looked like a pint sized Joe Louis doing what those in the midget divisions never can seem to get right, i.e. knocking out opponents! It is part of boxing's morality play....But alas of all the hype and circumstance VERY FEW become really great fighters and OF THAT group at least half get weeded out for the wrong reasons....guys like Witherspoon, MCcall....a guy who was so feared at the gym people treated him like a champ, Ike Ibeuchi etc.

Whats the moral of the story? When you see a Floyd or Pac show a little respect, they are a true rarity.

Good write up OP. I agree with a lot of what you said except one major thing. I honestly truly don't believe broner can bounce back from this loss. It takes a whole lot of mental fortitude discipline and character to do that. I'm not saying broner isn't athletic or has a skill set but his biggest weakness is his character. It's that little guy in the back of your head telling you what to do with your life and believe it or not it shows in the ring. How you can take sacrifices, handle losses, diet properly when your not fighting etc.. Broner got beat down tore up hurt and completely walked through last night. AB got humiliated and humbled on the grand stage for the whole world to see last night. His one moment for me to see that he had some character left (or started growing some )and that he was going to make this a great learning experience he blew by running out and not doing a post fight interview. A loss like this takes a big chunk out of you. When manny got ko I knew it was a lucky punch but I also knew he had the mental toughness to bounce back. Does anyone see that in broner?

AB always said when he gets pushed we will see another side of him. I saw none of that last night no footwork he claimed to have and a mediocre Floyd imitation that he either needs to go to the mayweather boxing club and learn properly or ditch all together and get back to his fighting style thts natural to him. When the poop hit the fan for him you never saw him shell up every time he got caught is when he was trying to look like Floyd. Only time he won rounds is when he dug deep and fought like he does naturally and coming at you. But by the time he adjusted in round 5 it was too late. He already took a beating been knocked down and gone mentally.

AB looked good physically at this weight I must say. But sucking weight and beating little guys masked a lot of problems masked problems for him. I don't think he should move down in weight because it's the easy way out. Rathar see him develop a skill set so if he ever is pushed he can fall back on that.

My tips for here on out.
The media is going to crucify you and you will be the laughing stock of boxing for a long time character development is needed to handle that. Please learn some.

Make a decision of either trying to master the mayweather shell and developing footwork . Or by expanding and doing what is natural to you.

Stop trying to be a rapper. Your most successful at boxing which gives you your fame in the first place go back and give it 100% and stop treating it like a part time job. The whole time he was on tour Maidiana was in the gym and it showed.

I hope Broner can bounce back from this and I actually pray his jaw wasn't broken.

But I'm a realist and I don't see him making a successful come back. Does anyone else feel like this too?

Floyd actually has his shoulder higher than his head, so even if he doesn't roll all the way, it's bounces off his shoulder and top of his head.

Again, not trying to get to technical but it's not something east to emulate. Broner don't have it.
Man its Greeeat to here someone who understands the technical details about using the shoulders properly! we use this technique in martial arts and yes...you have to understand the angle his punch can come from, how and when to raise the shoulder (lower the head), how to create a false line of attack where your head is not where it appears to be, and....you need to understand distance! Bronner showed how well he understands distance (in a general sense) when he caught that first hook from Maidena with his hands down, going straight back.

Broner doesn't have what it takes to carry that style. It's not the style it's the fighter who uses it.
True, plus Floyd only uses the Philly shell when necessary. Some times he goes full guard, other times he uses his footwork to get out of the way.

I dont even know Broner knows what footwork is, he's practically flat footed.

I agree that Canelo was hyped too but he lost to the best in Floyd, not Maidana. Canelo was gracious in defeat and showed at the press conference and even answered questions on Showtime last night about the loss. Canelo lost, accepted it and moved on with class..Broner not so much so far.

I think there's a chance he doesn't recover. He is all over the place in terms of his focus, maturity and intelligence.

He is going to require enormous mental strength to come back from this - the humiliation and the derision of the boxing community, the undressing of his persona, the loss of and unique selling point (loudmouth boxer who you watch to see lose). I think GBP and Showtime will back off with their support for him too. I think greater men than him would struggle to come back from this. It was a monumental defeat.

I mean, he could come back humbled, renewed, work on his craft, drop the rapping/partying/****ing......but has anything so far shown he is emotionally stable enough to do that?

Even from the first pre-fight conference, he looked bloated and hung-over. It looked like the wheels have been coming off for a while.
