Donaire has fought better opposition, I'll give him that. But both fighters have looked like world beaters against smaller opponents. When they face someone their size or bigger they don't look like world beaters. They look average and not that good.

Maidana was a brawler. He got outboxed by Khan and Alexander. Yet he beats Broner convincingly.

Imagine if Broner fought a boxer at 147 who also had power. Like Thurman, or Brook, or even someone like Pacquiao, he would get demolished.

He is another Andre Berto. He got beat by PDL, Draw with Paulie and got beat by Chino. Right now if I am top welters I am lining up to get a piece of that "name" to put on my resume.

I'm not going to dispute whether he won or lost those fights, but those fights should not have been that close for a fighter that got as much praise as he did.
We've seen other fighters beat Ponce De Leon and Paulie much more convincingly than Broner did. When you start comparing performances then you start to question the legitimacy of the fighter.

How can Abner Mares and JuanMa destroy Ponce De Leon but Broner gets a close decision win?

Or how does Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan dominate Paulie but Broner gets a split decision win?

Then you start wondering maybe he's not as good as everyone says he is...

Donaire has fought much better competiton and showed his heart and skill in fights. Donaire can move, punch, and box. Again, I get your point but bad comparison.

Donaire was one of the best lb for lb fighters, earned. Broner hasn't fought anyone except Paulie and it was really close. Paulie also can't break an egg.

Yeah, that's his level, beating up on midgets and cheating on the scales.

Aside from the fact that it's debatable whether he could physically do it, it would also be an admission of weakness, that his 147 title was mostly a joke, that he can't cope with the big boys at WW.

Even if he did go down to 140, he's gonna be back at 147 within a year or so anyway, so you would wonder if it's worth it.

This was the problem with skipping 140 entirely to take that WW belt.

If he can make lightweight still, he should. He has relied his entire career on his size and power, an advantage at welterweight or even junior welterweight he won't have.

The fact this guy was unbeaten (numerous gifts), heavily hyped, a three weight world champion and in the P4P top 10 was a travesty for the sport.

Boxing was a laughing stock having this guy around. I hope he's mentally destroyed to the point that he does a lacy.

What for the money is @ WW, Garcia and Matthysse will be @ WW soon enough. He's going to fill out into a WW eventually.
