Briggs was not a 12 round fighter and gets tired quickly, but he had major league power.
How does this one turn out?
The vast majority of Briggs's opponents were "ham-an'-eggers"... Palookas. The combined W-L totals of his first 15 opponents was about 60-200 (I checked this out a few years ago). And every time he stepped up he was badly beaten. His only lucky break was when he caught Liakhovitch that punch in the last round when well behind on the cards.
He KO'd Ray Mercer but Mercer had already had his chin cracked by Wladimir Klitschko and took a dreadful beating beforehand. He'd also lost about 5-6 fights and was 45 and shortly before he retired. I saw that Mercer had been ahead in the Briggs fight before the KO.
Not to say that Briggs didn't have a big punch, but considering who he was fighting, his KO record was over-rated and Mercer had been in and beaten some top fighters including former champions. Brigg's chin and capability to absorb punishment were good..
