Peterson and Matthysse was at welterweight with an agreed upon weight of 141. Anything over 40 is a WW fight.

George Forman used to say "....make as much money with that title"
Thank u. I posted about true welterweights before. Floyd isn't even a true welterweight, but welterweights r so small and blown up now that he can get away with fighting at welterweight. Oscar was the last of the Mohicans.

      Trinidad
      Quartey
      De La Hoya

If these dudes were fighter in this era u wouldn't b seeing all these little guys moving up to welterweight.

That's what it says on the Showtime website. It says JWW fight. Glad you're amused though.

I wish we would have seen Quartey vs. Trinidad. That would have been a classic.

Floyd got them skills for reals, which he'd push himself but he in it for the money, nothing wrong with that, i know he still taking a big risk entering that squared ring.

That's what I thought but I've seen Peterson vs. Matthysse and Khan vs. Diaz referred to as JWW fights.

WBO is not universally regarded as a major title either. That's today. In 1999, the WBO was definitely a lower title.

We have a strange case in boxing where a title has risen up from being a very minor title to a decently recognised one. This means anyone who held the WBO in history now seems to be a former world champ when it isn't necessarily the case....

The change that has occured for the Wbo, has made a lot of unknown fighters who held that title true Champions. I have no problem with that. Even though i still consider wbc, wba and ibf the main titles...but than someone even older than i is going to laugh at those titles. I guess it take a list of top fighter to make the title what it is.

I can remember Barrera held that title for a long time. But it was just a title organization willing and honored to crown him with that title. Than came Bowe, Hamed, glamorizing this title. For a while i thought the IBO was going to head in this distinction too.
