Comments Thread For: Solis Has To Return 35% of Purse For Weight Failure

Manuel Pérez Barreiro, the manager of former world flyweight (115 pounds) champion of the World Boxing Association, the Venezuelan Liborio Solis, has ten days to return 35% of the purse which his fighter received for the match with Daiki Kameda on December 3 in Osaka, Japan.

Solis had received full payment of his purse when he faced Daiki, but he failed to make the weight 115-pound weight limit and lost his WBA crown on the scale. Solis won the fight with a twelve round decision, but because he failed to make weight Kameda kept his IBF belt. [Click Here To Read More]

i'm not going to lie and say that i'm not dissapointed. i had really hoped that odlanier solis was fined for being a fat slob and wasting his talent.

Why should the promotor get the 25% and the fighter just 10%? Promotor wasn't the one busting his b@lls training and taking the risk of fighting a heavier opponent.

Wow you sure know your boxing. You thought it was Odlanier Solis that failed to make the weight? Are you aware that the heavyweight division is 200lbs and up? Meaning there is no weight limit after 200.

very happy theyre instigating these penaltys as they are. maybe this will make boxers be like they use to be and fight in divisions that they in real life weigh close to. like GGG

HW means over 200 lbs? oh f#ck man. thanks for the education. you totally sonned new england. go brag to your friends.

read the post twice if you need to. and understanding of the nature of the weight class is quite obviously implied. it's imperative. it's not humor if it's not being implied.

doesnt the belt become vacant if the champ loses the fight and the challenger doesnt make weight?
