  • Comments Thread For: Burns' Jaw Problem Could Push Back Crawford Bout

WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns is still not fully recovered from the broken jaw he suffered at the hands of Raymundo Beltran three months ago. Burns' promoter, Eddie Hearn, hopes his boxer will be fully ready for a mandatory defense of his title against undefeated Terence Crawford at Glasgow's SSE Hydro Arena on February 8.

Burns' jaw is being examined this week, according to Jim Black of Herald Scotland, who says Hearn reserved three more dates later in February. Burns had a titanium plate inserted in his jaw to assist the healing process. [Click Here To Read More]

Burns will duck Crawford for as long as possible in the hope that crawford will go another route and Burns can then have a volutary defence in glasgow vs Patricio Antonio Pedrero

Pedrero is a good opponent because he's teak tough and has only been stopped once

Hang on, jaw numb (can't feel pain) plus titanium plate. This sounds like an upgrade.

        Bet Amir Khan is jealous!

I love how there just throwing this out there now that the mandatory is enforced so he can pull out of the ight 2 weeks before. They should just strip this chump and have beltran and omaha fight for the vacated title, that's what the fight should be anyway. Who needs ricky burns. ItIt's gonna be like kell brook puloing out against devon twice to avoid a title fight. Or khan ducking devon like he was the grim reaper only to watch porter take that belt. What bums. They should keep them in the uk Where all they have to do is show up and fight partime soccer players and nurses.

Alexander actually pulled out first. Brook came back and ktfo of Senchenko, boring Alexander came back and got his a$$ kicked for trying to hug yet another opponent. Devon turned down the Khan fight first too, a big money bout in Dubai, bet he feels like a chump for that one now. He wanted to get it all set up so they rob Khan like PEDerson did, and like they did to Kotelnik and Matthysse.

Khan, Brook, Burns are all entertaining fighters, good for the sport. Alexander, Crawford etc are good for insomnia.

Kell could probably bring Porter to Sheffield with the right money and depends on how much GBP (I think they promote Porter) wants to hold onto the title.
Knowing GBP though.... they might try to put him on a triple header in Brooklyn

Possibly, but Brook should travel to face the champion imo, especially after pulling out a couple of times. After recent happenings on Matchroom cards, I wouldn't be all that keen if I were Porter.

Facing the champ at home is always nice.... but if they follow the money, that's fine with me.
I think this fight will get made though mid-year though....maybe earlier though if Porter doesn't take a voluntary

Making a fight without a fighter being fully healed,
